Skins break ranks on NFLCA appeals brief

On Wednesday, the NFL Coaches Association filed an amicus brief in support of the players' request to lift the lockout.

On Thursday, the Washington Redskins' coaching staff issued an interesting statement in which they renounce said brief.

"We stand united with our ownership and the brief does not reflect our thoughts on the matter," the letter reads, per Albert Breer of the NFL Network. "We, like everybody else, are hopeful we can return to playing football. ... Our former representative, Kirk Olivadotti, is no longer with the organization & no member of our ... staff was consulted."

According to Breer, 17 members of the Redskins staff signed the letter, though it did not include the signature of head coach Mike Shanahan, who is apparently considered part of "management."

The basic takeaway from the letter appears to be that the Redskins staff was none too pleased about the NFLCA filing their brief without checking first with the organization's coaches.

But then again, no coaches specifically attached their name to the NFLCA's brief, so perhaps this is just the first of many letters to leak in the media courtesy of coaching staffs.

Skins break ranks on NFLCA appeals brief

Skins coaches are so obvious. They did such a bad job last year side with owners to keep their jobs lol.
You are right there. This is a case of this terrible coaching staff kissing butt. Why would they even make a comment? All the coaches assoc. wants is a chance to get back to work and prepare for the season when it happens. The statement doesn't say they side with the players in the dispute it simply says they agree the lockout should be lifted to give them a chance to get a team ready to play if that happens. Looks like Shanahan has surrounded himself with coaches as stupid as he is. (We already knew is son is) There is no people skills on this staff. If they just kept their mouths shut and let things take there course instead of butt kissing they would earn a lot more respect from their players when everything is settled. Redskins fans can count on being a basement dweller as long as this coaching staff is running the team. Shanahan is the village idiot of the NFL and I guess the rest of the staff are the jesters.

Skins break ranks on NFLCA appeals brief

This whole thing is ridiculous!  I am 100% behind the owners!  When is the last time a normal person, went to work, and protested to how much he was making, and expected the owner to just fold and give him what he wants???  I would LOVE to see the owners bring in replacement players, pay them 500k a year, drop ticket prices, drop concession prices, let normal working people go to games again, and let those players, who now claim they are not getting paid enough, get REAL jobs!!!  They are soo ungrateful for the life that they have and the money that they make.  Meanwhile, the replacement players that would fill in would be so grateful to be doing something they love and getting paid a great deal for it!  Those owners should be able to to tell these players that don't want to play for the amont they are making, fine, take a hike, but while your under contract, your not going to play anywhere else either!
