Kenny Britt arrested day after court appearance

Kenny Britt must take some perverse pleasure in legal entanglements. Because a day after he pleaded guilty to careless driving in his hometown of Bayonne, New Jersey, Britt was -- you guessed it -- arrested again. This time in Hoboken where narcotics officers charged him with two counts of resisting arrest.

Britt was issued a summons and will have to show up in Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City on June 16, eight days since his last court appearance.

According to WSMV.com, the complaint says Britt "did purposely prevent or attempt to prevent a public servant from lawfully performing an official function by means of force or violence, specifically by refusing to open your hand when ordered to do so then pulling your hand away."

When you've just pled guilty to another offense hours before it only makes sense that you would hassle a cop at the first opportunity, right? Look, we understand that "refusing to open your hand when ordered to do so" ranks right below jaywalking when it comes abhorrent criminal behavior. But here's a thought: if you've just had a run-in with the law, and you're a relatively high-profile athlete (or just tired of getting arrested), open your hand when the police ask you to, you know, open your hand.

Instead, Britt was charged with using his body "to push away from the officers" and pulled his arm away "while not allowing the officers to handcuff" him.

To recap: the Titans' best receiver can't get separation from law officers who probably haven't played competitive sports since high school. You know, it's not too late for the team to reconsider re-signing Randy Moss.

In related news: Ray Lewis, upon hearing the latest, nodded knowingly, and continued to preach of the impending Armageddon crime spree if the lockout isn't promptly resolved. We've been warned.

Kenny Britt arrested day after court appearance

Cummon guys, get real.  While Im no fan or advocate of most of our police departments, there is an old saying regarding perception and self assessment.  If ONE person says youre an asshole they could possibly be wrong or one themselves....if TWO people say so you'd better start looking in the mirror & considering it.....if THREE OR MORE people say youre an asshole chances are your name is sphincter!

Bottom line...  Britt has more eyes on him than a horsefly & he's perpetuating HIS OWN downfall by not growing up.  Its evident that he's still involved with the wrong people or has the wrong attitude.  Like many other young men with too much money, too many toys, & too much unmerited adoration, he thinks he can operate in his own world, a world not necessarily within the confines of the law or rules that apply to everyone else. Call him a "cowboy", call him a thug or gangsta, or just call him immature.  The likely facts are that when something or someone smells like s...t, there's s....t very nearby.

While I in no way support the frequently overzealous reactions/responses of testosterone laden cops three years out of high school, the vast majority of them are not just making things up or targeting specific individuals without just cause or suspicion.  Has Britt done anything to make himself a "target" or stand out in the eyes of law enforcement?  Likely so.  And if he had NOTHING in his hand or wasnt trying to conceal something what possible reason would he have to jerk away or resist a cursory search/glance?  Lets be real about this... There ARE instances where an innocent man is simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, but its like lightning...it doesnt often strike twice unless one is stands out or is intentionally in that "wrong place".  Britt has made himself into a lightning rod through HIS OWN actions and activities.   It all boils down to ATTITUDE, IMMATURITY, and IRRESPONSIBILITY.

"We need to look no farther than states outlawing the filming of police.  That is a law that would make Hitler proud, and that isn't an exageration at all"

Bingo.  You sir are my hero for the day. Someone else gets it...thank you.

@Reks428

Preach on man. Canada is cool in my book. If I didn't have a daughter, I'd seriously consider moving there.

@KingBishop99

My bad, I'm still drunk from watching the game last night. You seem cool and made your point. Only thing I differ in opinion on, is that even if I do nothing wrong, I will stand up for my rights. I've been a smart-a$$ my whole life, nothing will change that. My comment was more directed towards the mindset of just giving in to the police.  You've obviously been through some drama and I commend you on changing your life and staying "out of trouble".

If you don't love America, feel free to move to one of those Arab countries that treat their women so well.  Maybe you can learn to type and spell from their excellent educational system because clearly you have not yet learned much.  If a person does not have anything to hide, why not open your hand when asked?
If you believe that is what actually happened then I have some WMDs for you.  It is BECAUSE we love America that we don't want to see crooked cops turn it into the Iran you love so much.  Why do you hate freedoms so much?  You should be asking, why are the cops asking to see the inside of someone's hand without probable cause?  We should just the Constitution as toilet paper if crazies like you keep willingly allow us to become a police state.

@sports4life.... By anything I don't mean I am going to get down and let them piss on me and I am the furthest thing from spineless. It looks like they gave you a real hard time. Was your situation that big of a deal that you are scarred for life and can never trust another officer? For every crooked cop there are many more good ones. Next time you get robbed or mugged are you going to call the police or take care of it on your own? All I am saying is if you're not breaking the law what is the problem with co-operating with an officer’s investigation? The reasons they are doing these investigations are to get drugs or guns and criminals off the street. Won't your life be better off with less of the above on the street?
Except that isn't what happened.  It is obvious that these cops were merely trying to harrass and enforce their style of justice against the code.  Britt did NOTHING wrong, and was arrested for it because some civil servants didn't like his attitude and possibly his skin color.  To be for warrantless arrests without probable cause and to be for profiling is to be against America.  Period.  It is exactly these kinds of PIGS that make the job of the few straight cops left (and they are indeed a minority) very difficult.  Citizens rightfuly don't trust police because of hundreds of thousands of events just like this.  We need to look no farther than states outlawing the filming of police.  That is a law that would make Hitler proud, and that isn't an exageration at all.  Why work so hard to remove the one protection left to the citizen?  Since when did the policeman gourging at the taxpayer trough become more imprtant than the actual citizen?  We better all start learning Mandarin lol.

If you sheep don't want your rights that so many have died for, that is fine.  But us Americans wan't them, and we are tired of insecure steroid users with some grudge against society doing as they please without accountability and with impunity.  Just like the marine (a real hero) shot down in cold blood in Arizona by trigger happy freaks hiding behind a badge (none of them will even be reprimanded, you watch), like the folks in Chicago going tp prison because they caught police breaking the law, it just goes on and on and on.  Respect is earned, not demanded at the point of a gun, at least by real men.  I can handle criminals just fine, its the cops I worry about.  Crooked, lazy, racist, and self-serving, and if you disagree you simply haven't been paying attention.  My life would be better off with dirty cops off the street without a doubt.

What if I don't like America, and I'm from Canada? Should I still go to an Arab country? Also, wasn't America founded by a bunch of slave-owning aristocratic white males that didn't want to pay their taxes. They didn't just open their hands you p*ssy.

@Sports4Life, Nowhere did I say I was better than anybody, as a matter of fact I have 2 dui's, a felony conviction for cocaine trafficking across state lines and I think I set a record one year for speeding tickets obtained in a six month period. That was my past and now I live a clean life now and the cops don't and will not have anything on me. I will not put myself in any position to cause myself to be accosted by the police. I am employed at a reputable insurance firm that does global business as a legal analyst. My thesis was focused on the effects of racial profiling on inner city children by the police and numerous times have I been approached by the police while doing nothing wrong. It is my experience that if you’re doing nothing wrong and you comply with the police your dealing with them will be over quickly, if you give them a hard time they will make your life a living hell and most likely try to find something to charge you with. Don't imply or think you no anybody on here and don't read into anything that anybody says on these websites because you will end up making a wrong statement as you have about me.
