Kenny Britt arrested day after court appearance

Kenny Britt must take some perverse pleasure in legal entanglements. Because a day after he pleaded guilty to careless driving in his hometown of Bayonne, New Jersey, Britt was -- you guessed it -- arrested again. This time in Hoboken where narcotics officers charged him with two counts of resisting arrest.

Britt was issued a summons and will have to show up in Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City on June 16, eight days since his last court appearance.

According to WSMV.com, the complaint says Britt "did purposely prevent or attempt to prevent a public servant from lawfully performing an official function by means of force or violence, specifically by refusing to open your hand when ordered to do so then pulling your hand away."

When you've just pled guilty to another offense hours before it only makes sense that you would hassle a cop at the first opportunity, right? Look, we understand that "refusing to open your hand when ordered to do so" ranks right below jaywalking when it comes abhorrent criminal behavior. But here's a thought: if you've just had a run-in with the law, and you're a relatively high-profile athlete (or just tired of getting arrested), open your hand when the police ask you to, you know, open your hand.

Instead, Britt was charged with using his body "to push away from the officers" and pulled his arm away "while not allowing the officers to handcuff" him.

To recap: the Titans' best receiver can't get separation from law officers who probably haven't played competitive sports since high school. You know, it's not too late for the team to reconsider re-signing Randy Moss.

In related news: Ray Lewis, upon hearing the latest, nodded knowingly, and continued to preach of the impending Armageddon crime spree if the lockout isn't promptly resolved. We've been warned.

I would say the only thnig Britt did wrong to get pulled over was to be a noncaucasion male driving a nice car. Big flag for cops. Then they notice something silly like not signaling to switch lanes so they can pull him over. Do I think some segments of the population get a bum rap? Yes, but it is not always completly without warrent. Stop proving the sterotypes right so often. Maybe things will change. Maybe they never will.

I agree with half of your post and disagree with the other CaliSteelersFan.  Officers should not be allowed to profile or break mandate or mistreat a suspect.  But if a cop asks you to do something (within practical reason), you do it, regardless if you agree.  You might not agree that the speed limit should be 25 in your neighborhood, but if you get caught going 50 you're gettin a ticket.  If you still don't agree, you file a complaint or show up in court to fight it...there's a system for it, and it doesn't include being a punk on the side of the road resisting arrest or blatantly disregarding an officers orders.

I'm friends with several officers and hear about all the crap they deal with on a daily basis.  They have to be on constant guard with idiots out there and suspect everyone that doesn't comply with their orders.  In this case, it was a simple order that an idiot like Britt failed to acknowledge.

I have no criminal record and no reason to be suspected of anything, but when cops showed up to a party and asked me to follow them to a squad car even though I was well over 21 and had done nothing wrong, guess where my ass was sitting 2 minutes later?  They asked me questions for a few minutes, said thanks for your time, and let me get back to the party after clearing out some other people.  Most cops aren't out looking to cause problems with people, if for no other reason, they have to fill out all that paperwork.  Do what they ask, and if you've done nothing wrong, you'll be on your way in a few minutes.

Sorry that everything I wrote clearly went over your head and all you got out of it was that I somehow hate all cops.  And you have the gall to question my level of intelligence?  Most cops are vets, like myself.  I don't hate cops, I hate cops that don't follow their mandate.  When they cross the line of protect and serve and step into racial profiling and harassing people because they can, then I have a problem with them.

Angry vet?  Sorry wrong again, I decided to serve to protect the rights that our constitution grants us all.  We don't serve the people or the politicians, we serve to protect the rights we have achieved through 200+ years of sacrifice.  Attitudes like yours is why I think we should make every child serve 2 years in the military after high school in trade for a free college education once their tour of service is complete.  That way more of the public would have a vested interest in what used to be held sacred.  I guarantee you once you visit your first 3rd world country, you'll come home caring a little more about this country and standing up when injustices occur.  Britt may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but if you can't see something totally wrong with this arrest, then lord help us all.

It said a narcotics officer arrested him. One they probably thought he had drugs and 2 why was he near somewhere that the drug task force was at the time. Not a coincidence he probably was doing some grimmy and got caught. Even if he had drugs in his hand he would get a slight slap on the wrist and sent on his way. Whats up the NFL players today, maybe all that ( dont hit each other to hard) bullcrap is still jarring their brains. Or it just shows how we in general are becoming more mentally challenged.(Idiocracy)

"Well since I'm a veteran and have actually read the Bill of Rights,"

A veteran doesnt make you intelligent.  I appreciate what you did for this country, but coming home angry and hating cops isnt right either.  Reread the bill of rights and maybe attend college to understand actually what it means.
