Kenny Britt arrested day after court appearance

Kenny Britt must take some perverse pleasure in legal entanglements. Because a day after he pleaded guilty to careless driving in his hometown of Bayonne, New Jersey, Britt was -- you guessed it -- arrested again. This time in Hoboken where narcotics officers charged him with two counts of resisting arrest.

Britt was issued a summons and will have to show up in Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City on June 16, eight days since his last court appearance.

According to, the complaint says Britt "did purposely prevent or attempt to prevent a public servant from lawfully performing an official function by means of force or violence, specifically by refusing to open your hand when ordered to do so then pulling your hand away."

When you've just pled guilty to another offense hours before it only makes sense that you would hassle a cop at the first opportunity, right? Look, we understand that "refusing to open your hand when ordered to do so" ranks right below jaywalking when it comes abhorrent criminal behavior. But here's a thought: if you've just had a run-in with the law, and you're a relatively high-profile athlete (or just tired of getting arrested), open your hand when the police ask you to, you know, open your hand.

Instead, Britt was charged with using his body "to push away from the officers" and pulled his arm away "while not allowing the officers to handcuff" him.

To recap: the Titans' best receiver can't get separation from law officers who probably haven't played competitive sports since high school. You know, it's not too late for the team to reconsider re-signing Randy Moss.

In related news: Ray Lewis, upon hearing the latest, nodded knowingly, and continued to preach of the impending Armageddon crime spree if the lockout isn't promptly resolved. We've been warned.

Kenny Britt arrested day after court appearance

@skreffty....That's moronic for you to even go there!! First off what are you talking about? This has nothing to do with driving a car and if your talking about the reckless driving, for god's sake he plead guilty! Oh and it also had nothing to do with North Carolina so why are you dragging that great state into this, and making there police look like racists? Leave it to some immature punk who's playing the race card. People like you should be forbidden from posting on stuff like this. Oh and to remind you he was arrested by narcotic officers so clearly he was in a place that somebody of his stature and recognition should not have been. Do us all a favor and read the story three times and let it all sink in before you post a comment...
@ moron

I didn't say a thing about race, but your over-the-top defensive response tells me wonders about where you stand on racial issues.  Britt got arrested the first time for careless and reckless, now please explain to me how that has nothing to do with a car?  Seriously what are you talking about?  I then made a relevant comparison to another athlete who was recently doing much, much worse behind the wheel of a car and got of scott-free.  You tell me what the difference is.  If it isn't race then so be it, I will await your explanation.  Remember, I am nort supporting Britt.  You have to pay to play (except in North Carolina apparently), and unlike you I prefer consistency in teh application of the law.

Now what the hell does the type of policeman have to do with where Britt was and what he was doing?  That is like saying that poor marine who was gunned down in his apartment two weeks ago was obviously guilty because it was SWAT officers that murdered him.  Doesn't make much sense does it?

It isn't I who should be banned from posting, does logic mean anything to you, or is it all just a knee-jerk response?  Have you even read the story?  He was arrested for not doing what he was told, and I ask an incredibly valid and relevant question, as anyone who likes liberty over arbitrary nanny/police state antics would - why was he being told what to do when he clearly did nothing wrong?  If he had I am certain, and we all are, that he would have been charged for those crimes as well.  So I ask again, why was he being cuffed for NOT violating the law?  I am all for criminals paying the price, which is why I am upset that Busch isn't in jail, but to any sane reader, it appears that Britt did nothing wrong except refuse to kowtow to bullies hiding behind a badge.  If I am wrong, if he commiteed a crime to cause him to be arrested in the first place, please fill me in.  I await your infinite knowledge oh knee-jerk one.

I don't know about reading the article three time, but I would certainly appreciate it if you had read it at least once.  I bit you are pissed you missed the rapture.  Whackadoo...

This sounds like nonsense.  I'll bet any of you a dollar that these charges won't stick.  Remember, the police can't just order you to do something unless they have a sound reason for doing so.

Why do people always bring race into something, if Kenny Brit does something stupid, it's not because he's black, it's because he's an idiot.

But people immediately start calling him a thug or saying something negative about the entire black race.

And then get mad when you pull their card and call them a racist.

If the shoe fits you big dummy.

It's because 95% of all arrests of NFL players arel black men...and I for one, get sick of it.  No one is saying that all black people are bad, but people like you only enable the young black men to act out in this way.  You endorse the activity and actually feed into it.  No one is addressing it and guess what?  It's getting worse.

I find it ironic that no one has a problem with young men paying more for their insurance than young women.  Insurance companies have proven that young men are statistically more likely to be in an accident or get a ticket.  Yet when 95% of all NFL players that are getting arrested  are black and someone mentions it...they are a racist.  Honestly, I just want the arrests to stop.  I don't care if they are good or even nice people, just stop doing illegal stuff.  Is that too much to ask?  You will never see me write something bad about T.O. or Chad Ochocinco.  Why? They may be terrible team mates, but they have never been, I don't have anything negative thoughts towards them even though they act like kids.  I'm ok with them being a diva, as long as they don't get arrested.

What is wrong with that?

No - nobody is surprised.  It's the National Felon League – it is expected.  He will get rewarded with an even bigger contract now.  ESPN will run shows telling us how great Britt really is.  They will run every week.  They will tell us how he overcame whatever and now, like Mike Vick, is a terrific person and that you should let your kids hang out with him.

Seriously....does this REALLY surprise anyone?  This is the reason I have sided with the owners in this labor dispute.  I am going to support the side that isn't getting arrested....every....single...time.

Add this guy to the list of losers in the NFL.  No wonder Fisher wanted out.  He has too much class to be associate with the losers that are left behind.

for the record...calling someone a thug in no way has racial implications. its a lifestyle lived by any given person of any given race.
