Marty Schottenheimer wouldn't want Pryor

If former Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor enters the NFL supplemental draft – and why wouldn’t he if there actually is a supplemental draft? – don’t expect teams to make big concessions to get him.

That’s basically what CBSSports.com’s Ryan Wilson wrote today, and I talked to one person today who spends much of his time watching film who believes Pryor is nothing better than a third-string QB in the NFL.

Heck, it’s gotten so bad for Pryor that even one UFL coach said he wouldn’t be interested in working with him. That's longtime NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer, who’s coaching the Virginia Destroyers.

“With all due respect, we’ve got a quarterback, and we’re ready to move forward with him,” Schottenheimer said on 1490 The Game (via Pro Football Talk) in Virginia Beach.

So, just who is this mysterious QB that Schottenhemier would rather play instead of the former Buckeyes star? I don’t have a Destroyers depth chart handy, but I can tell you there are three quarterbacks listed on the team’s roster: Dennis Brown (from Norfolk State), Derek Devine (from Marshall) and Pat White (I thought he was retired from pro sports).

Whoever it is, I can assure you of one thing: not one of them will have been the most-coveted high school quarterback in the country at one point. Unlike a guy named Terrelle Pryor who nobody seems to want these days.

Some GM is going to think they are smart enough to turn Pryor into an all-pro.  That GM will draft Pryor. That GM will be sadly disappointed.

NFL Money

Terrell's not interested in playing for some low rent ufl team.  He's looking at the NFL only and will want big money to sign any deal.

Pryor will join Maurice Clarett on the "What might have been" all star team. Talented athletes that just did not get the concept of a team sport.

In addition to Pryor having mechanical throwing problems, inability to read defenses, check downs properly and an unorthodox throwing habit.

He also have character flaws that are being taken into consideration. Apparently this is in the scouting report amassed on him at this stage in his career. This seem to have been an issue since early in his career and could go back as far as middle or junior high school. He has an entitlement issue, thinking only of himself and putting himself above the team and not making proper decisions in his personal life.

Pro teams don’t want a head or basket case, that they have advance knowledge of. There would be many things to be discussed and worked out prior to a pro team signing him to a pro contract, if signed at all.

I really don't get why people are in love with Terrelle Pryor still. He doesn't have the accuracy or decision making to be even a serviceable backup in the NFL, which equates to a starter in the UFL (probably not, but just saying it to justify Schottenheimer). Someone's gonna be stupid enough to pick him up...
