In an hour-long special that will air June 30 on ESPN, Jon Gruden spends time with former Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor for his occasional Gruden Camp series.

In the excerpt below, Gruden asks Pryor what in the heck happened at Ohio State with him and coach Jim Tressel.

“Pretty much just me making mistakes, especially losing a great coach to this great university,” Pryor said. “It’s a disaster. I’m very sorry, but at the same time, I have to move on. I have a life I have to live. I’m disgusted with what went down to that university. I regret the fact that coach Tres had to leave and the fact I had to leave.”

The excerpted clip is less than 2 minutes long, so I guess you’ll have to wait to see if Gruden grills Pryor the same way he grilled Cam Newton (it did not present Newton in the, um, best light). But if so, beware. Not everybody thinks Gruden’s evaluation skills are so great.

Gruden gets chance to drill Pryor

As esd said in earlier posts, he is sorry because he looks likes an arse to NFL scouts.  If any of them actually cared about character issues, he would end up in the CFL or worse.   So he is sending out hollow apologies trying to sway the scouts, nothing more.  He was a decent player on great teams.  He did nothing to elevate the talent around him and did little in the way of personal accomplishments.  The guy is a decent QB at best in a weak conference no less.

I think he will be a late round selection in the supplemental draft, if it happens, at best.  Some team will take a flier on him thinking hopefully they can fix whatever is going on inside that small brain of his so that he can utliize all of his physical skills.  But I agree with other posters, he has little or no chance as a QB and he is a slow WR or a small TE otherwise.  He couldn't even play the Kordell Stewart role....

The guy was a average QB on a great team (with ineligible players of course).   If any NFL team takes him, might as well try him out as a WR or TE.

Thuggery has always run the world, especially sport.  Tryin to make the NFL an inclusive thug-filled club undermines our human history.

Why does anybody bother to print stories like this? What was Pryor supposed to say now that they are selling the bookend to the Newton con. Pryor cares about as much about what he has done as Vick does. With the exception of the Cowboys, Bengals and Raiders NFL teams go to great lengths trying to convince people they draft / employ people based upon high moral character but the league is filled with thugs, con men, dead beat fathers and criminals and as long as they can run kick or pass it will never change.
