Last week, LeSean McCoy took a shot at Giants defensive lineman Osi Umenyiora, tweeting that Osi was "overrated n soft" and that he was the "3rd best d-line[man]" on New York's roster.

Naturally, this went over really well with Osi, who fired back at McCoy calling him a girl, a "Twitter gangster" and "Chihuahua.".

After that, the feud seemed to simmer a bit. Fortunately, Justin Tuck decided to ramp it back up today.

“Well, two things, yes we will take that personally,” Tuck said to ESPN's Mike and Mike on Wednesday. “And two, he might want to watch some film before he starts talking about a defensive end of Osi’s quality. I don’t know where he would say something of that nature. Obviously Osi’s stats back up the fact that he is a pretty good NFL football player.”

The good news is that such back-and-forth can only lead to more on-field hatred between the Eagles and the Giants. (This is good as long as it doesn't lead to any actual, illegal violence -- rivalries are always beneficial for the game of football.)

The bad news is that Osi's apparently going to hold out once the lockout ends until he gets a new contract, which probably won't give him a whole lot of street cred.

And, considering he's a named plaintiff on the players' antitrust suit, such a dispute isn't necessarily going to just disappear amicably. Fortunately, though, Tuck had some more words for McCoy himself.

"I honestly think social media has made people cowards,” Tuck said. “Where I’m from, if you had a problem with somebody, you said it to their face. I think now people are hiding behind computers and smart phones to get out something they got on their chest where I’m used to having a problem with a person, you go tell it to their face. You don’t go blast it out so everybody in the world can see about it."

So, hey, there's always a shot he and McCoy can just duel it out when the two teams go head-to-head next year.

And how quick was he released?
Uh, after a year or so?  Didn't I say that in my original post that you quoted?  I never heard of him being released sooner for good behavior or anything.  But I'm sure you'll correct me if I'm wrong about that.
And what team is in front line to get him . . . Yeah... the Philly Rehabs
Don't count on it, Schlemazel.  That was never more than gossip.  We've got two pretty good wide receivers, and assuming there'll be a salary cap under any new CBA, the Eagles need to devote their main financial resources to defense, not to gilding the lily with still another receiver.  Besides, Burress still wants to be a starter somewhere (with starter's money), and he's not going to get that in Philly.  And, yes, Andy Reid probably figures he himself has done his share of rehab work with one ex-con; someone else's turn now.

Bleed2, I actually agree with most of your comments.  Some pro athletes--as well as a lot of other people--make too much silly use of "social media".  I'll just go further and say that there are too many athletes--and fans--out there who read them too much and too seriously.

If he gets the better of you, you'll be out for the season
Hey, Zack, if Tuck gets the better of McCoy by doing anything improper on the field, they might both be out for the season.  Is it worth it, over a silly tweet?
are LeSean and DeSean a couple? Because that's about the cutest thing I've ever heard . . .
Actually, around here (i.e., Philly), LeSean McCoy is generally known as "Shady" McCoy, probably to avoid confusion of first names with DeSean Jackson.  If any of the people in your stadium try to taunt him by calling him "LeSean"--espeically after their speech is slurred by a beer or two--he and the rest of the Eagles will probably think the taunters are referring to Jackson.  And they'll be very puzzled, especially if Jackson's just run back another punt on you.

McCoy is a genius.  Even with their entire defense focused on stopping him, the Giants could only slow down Vick for about 53 minutes before getting crushed.  Now if they're going to spend their entire time focusing on McCoy, Vick will abuse them all game long and probably put up 40.  McCoy is a solid player but he's the least dangerous weapon they have.

Hey easy there Philly fans. I wouldn't go calling out criminals so fast. Those in glass houses shouldn't be throwing dogs if you know what I mean!!!  Besides the other criminals that got arrested this off season.  Let's just call it a tie for criminal behavior with a slight edge to Philly! Plax only shot himself for God sake your boy assasinated dogs on a daily basis now who REALLY is the criminal???

I guess you prefer teams that have players who shoot up nightclubs rather than make silly tweets?  Oh, sorry, the Giants don't have Burress any more, do they?  Shame on that nasty judge for putting him in jail for a year and keeeping him from continuing to represent the G-men in such exemplary fashion.

And how quick was he released? And what team is in front line to get him (after getting a convicted felon?) Yeah... the Philly Rehabs will be a lot of fun this year... McCoy has had "success" against the Giants with Vick having success... if Vick falters at all, or he gets hurt, and I don't hope he does, but with his style he is more liable to get hurt then a pocket QB, McCoy is nothing to worry about with that offensive line...

I like Tuck's message about social media.  Let your play on the field do the talking, and if you have issues with someone take it up with them.  Nowadays people get courage because they can hide behind a computer monitor or phone.

It's true... this really is not very noteworthy; but hey...it's June and we are in a lockout I guess. Is McCoy really in the Giants heads? I sure hope not...otherwise this is going to be a long season if they are that mentally weak. Are the Giants going to alter any game plan? No.

Bone-head move to talk smack about a 2 time All-Pro who just set an NFL record last season for most forced fumbles in a season when you are a third year pro who really has not accomplished much. But the kid can play....if talking trash about a division opponent helps to get him fired up or to motivate him; all the more power to him.

Justin Tuck did hit the nail on the head about the use of social media though. It is rediculous how professional athletes have been using these mediums.

Oh LeSean. Just don't fire back at Tuck. He is a big man. You have to realize if you get the better of him on the field, you might make him look bad. If he gets the better of you, you'll be out for the season. Just worry about picking up the blitz for your QB so he doesn't get killed and shut your mouth. Oh and I'm sick of "don't kick it to DeSean", the Giants had about 8 mistakes to blow that game before that kick. It  just happened to be the final one.

On a side note, are LeSean and DeSean a couple? Because that's about the cutest thing I've ever heard. Next time you guys are in New York you can make it official.

And i'm a  Dolphins fan, so don't be thinkin I'm a front runner or something. lol
Don't worry, tony, we couldn't consider you a frontrunner even if you were technically a Giants fan, considering that this past season the Eagles made the playoffs and the Giants didn't.
As to your preferring teams filled with admirable people, I guess you prefer teams that have players who shoot up nightclubs rather than make silly tweets?  Oh, sorry, the Giants don't have Burress any more, do they?  Shame on that nasty judge for putting him in jail for a year and keeeping him from continuing to represent the G-men in such exemplary fashion.
Oh, by the way, how's Ricky Williams doing these days?  Have the police found his stash yet?
