Plax says Bears in top 3, Bears not interested?

Plaxico Burress will be one of the most sought-after discussed free agents once the offseason begins. And though his age may be an issue, it seems like he's going to get a gig.

But where? Well, how about Chicago, where the Bears are in need of a possession receiver to compliment Devin Hester? How convenient -- Plaxico said he'd be interested in going to Chicago, even calling the Bears one of his top-three choices to play.

"Oh without question, without a doubt [the Bears are among my top three destinations]," Burress said on "The Carmen, Jurko & Harry Show" on Tuesday, via the Chicago Sun-Times. "My decision making is going to come down to what I said, playing with an elite quarterback, playing with a running game, playing with a great tight end, and Greg Olsen is already that guy, in my estimation he'll be a Pro Bowler this season.

"That's the same situation I went into when I made my decision to go to New York. It's a pretty similar situation."

Quick aside: it's unbelievable how Drew Rosenhaus clients who don't really have an open market continually find themselves in high-demand. I mean that seriously -- the guy makes things happen.

However, this flirtation with Chicago may not exactly be worth pursuing. Sean Jensen of the Sun-Times notes in the same article that multiple sources tell him the Bears are only interested in Plax at a "bargain basement price."

Apparently, the combination of Burress' prison time, plus his age and character concerns all mesh poorly with his inability to fit into Mike Martz' scheme that way other receivers might.

But, hey, what if he ended up going to Chicago along with Washington wideout Santana Moss? That would make for a pretty spicy set of wide receivers, right?

Yes it would, but it probably won't happen. If there's one thing we've learned about Rosenhaus clients it's that they're probably not taking the cheapest deal on the market, even if it might mean a better situation.

Yeah, better to shoot yourself than to kill a guy in your car like the Clevland Browns WR...Funny thing, he didnt serve a day on jail.

WE'LL TAKE PLAX...........AT LEAST HE ONLY SHOT HIMSELF....THATS A GOOD SIGN.......IMAGINE GOING TO PRISON BECAUSE YOU SHOT YOURSELF.   I AM SURE HIS NEW GUN IS LEGALLY REGISTERED,   WE LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES.   AND EVEN THOUGH HE WAS IN PRISON IT WAS  NOT ALL THAT BIG OF A DEAL.   YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A NAME SO THE COPS AND DA'S HAVE IT OUT FOR YOU.   KINDA BOOST THEIR EGO TRIPS THEY ARE ON.  SO WHEN THEY GET OLD THEY CAN LOOK BACK AND THINK TO THEMSELFS WELL,  I DID KINDA GET THAT ONE GUY.

I STILL THINK PLAX KEPT HIMSELF IN SHAPE FOR THE DAY HE WOULD RETURN TO THE NFL. I LIKED HIM BEFORE HE SHOT HIMSELF AND BEARS COULD USE HIS TALENT.  VJ  SEEMS TO BE GOOD WHEN HE WANTS TO.  SCREW SIDNEY RICE HES NOT ALL THAT.  PLAX IS THE WAY I WOULD GO IF I WERE ANGELO.  BUT ANGELO IS ANOTHER STORY.

That would be a nice fit for Plax to play for the Bears, but if that were to happen he'll be already penciled in as the number one receiver for the Bears. The only problem with that is Plax hasn't played football for almost two years so his age as well as football shape will be questioned by any team that has any interest in him.

Screw Plax....we need Simeon Rice!
Less Brews and more Bears please.

Plaxico Burress might work out well in Chicago he has already gotten use to playing with an in accurate quarterback in New York, Eli Manning.

Unless the the new CBA eliminates the Franchise Tags the Bears will not get Vincent Jackson.  Heck the Chargers might go after Steve Smith and bring him back to sunny Southern California where he started.

I can picture Steve Smith and his wife Angie deciding, "San Diego, CA. with Philip Rivers and with Vincent Jackson on the other side" or "Chicago, IL. with Jay Cutler and with Devon Hester on the other side"???   Chargers or Bears???

After just a moment of thought Steve says to Angie, "Honey this is a no brainer, get your bikini ready it's Rivers and Jackson for me!!!" and Angie screams, "Thank God you will not have to tackle guys after Cutler throws interceptions".  Steve sighs with relief, "TRUE THAT!" and they both break out in laughter and excitement.

We need Simeon Rice and Chuck Bednarski! And Steve Largent! And someone call up Ronnie Lott! Anyway, I would love Sidney Rice if his hip is all in one piece. But I really want Vincent Jackson. Or Steve Smith (the Carolina version), who can be had for a third-round draft pick. That seems like a no-brainer to me considering Angelo couldn't draft a letter. The Bears are going to have to - repeat: have to - spend about $45 million this offseason. That can buy a lot of talent. which seems pretty encouraging for a team that hosted a conference title game.

Simeon Rice is retired and has been for a while.  Sidney Rice, however, would be the best route to go for the Bears if possible.  If no one else is coming, then i'd be alright with Plax, but only if we can't get Rice

Until there is a camp where we can see what the free agents can do...who knows. Plax could have been playing handball the entire time in jail to work on his hand and eye or could have been spades and stop talking so much. Where ever he goes if he goes...your going to need to cover him, but I dont think hes going to draw the attention of these sut down corners. An average DB or CB should be able to keep him contained. The only way he will draw more attention is if he starts playing some H. Ward football. Big hard blocks. Seeming impossible catches on the inside to create that threat. Either way I like when guys get out of jail and play ball. They dont make as much money and their charity work seems to double. Justice served. Until they hit a cop over the head with two beer cans and get shot. Could have shot him in the legs and arms Sherrif.
