HarrisonPosted by Josh Katzowitz

In an interesting admission today, the writer of the controversial James Harrison piece for Men’s Journal magazine told Harrison to do whatever he needs to do in order to make peace with his quarterback.

“We talked about 11 o’clock yesterday morning,” Paul Solotaroff told ESPN radio, via Pro Football Talk. “Look, James is the guy who’s got to live with Ben for the next three years.... So as I told James, ‘Listen, whatever you’ve got to say to mend fences is perfectly fine with me.’”

That’s why Harrison told Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger that Solotaroff twisted his words in the story.

But it also sounds like Solotaroff didn’t use all the quotes he could have, and apparently, Harrison got really nasty in the interview (it, of course, would be a surprise if Harrison wasn't nasty)

Harrison's Big Day
“I filled up three notebooks, I don’t know how many hours of digital tape, and I cut so much stuff from this piece,” Solotaroff said. “There is just acres of stuff James said that’s compelling and amusing and riveting. And that wasn’t the only thing he said about Ben.”

In addition to bashing Roethlisberger and RB Rashard Mendenhall in the piece that ran -- he also said some not-so-nice things about commissioner Roger Goodell -- Solotaroff left on the cutting room floor the quote in which Harrison called Cleveland’s Colt McCoy “an idiot kid quarterback.”

But you know what’s also kind of weird about this interview? Solotaroff seems like a HUGE fan of Harrison.

“I was furious at the way James got done by Goodell last year,” Solotaroff said. “I thought making him the poster boy for this abrupt and arbitrary rule change . . . was about the most wrongheaded thing you could do, particularly since Goodell seemed bent on singling James out.”

That’s fine for Solotaroff to feel that way. But now it sounds like Solotaroff is protecting Harrison from getting into even more trouble, simply because he likes Harrison so much.

And when you basically admit to that in a radio interview, your credibility as an objective reporter will get called into question. As it should be.

My advice to James is continue his rant towards the myopic, if not outright dupe, of Kraft, Jones, and the other populist owners but lay of fellow Steelers.

Because if it's one thing that Goldpanther doesn't like, it's the truth about the Steelers.

What else did Harrison tell magazine reporter?

What a bunch of drama queens in Pittsburgh! To be completely honest I'm tired of these boys that can't act like men....period. Do I really need to hear another crybaby rant about how the world isn't fair to a guy being a jackarse??? Every other week the steeler crybaby machine pukes out another drama related example of how they can't carry themselves as men. Steeler fans like to blame the media along with racecard carrying knuckle heads who think the world is against them because of the color. Regardless of race, economic situation, or geography....you can still carry yourself as a man....period.

"James Harrison said some stupid things and I think that both white and black people can agree on that."

I will be one that says its not a race issue. I think it's a person issue. And what Harrison wants to say and stand for, I think everyone in the NFL, players, owners and fans are tired of hearing from him. I understand he has his opinions but the way he goes about his opinion is a hitman's mentality. I'm sure his agent will get out as soon as he can. That's if he want's to keep his career. This is not a racial issue, it is a single player stupidity issue! Prove me wrong. I can't wait to see how Steeler Nation (fans, players, owners, coaches) handle this last crazy outbust from JH. We all look forward to steeler nations feedback!

What Harrison had to say about God-dell is probably understated as the moronic commissioner is worse than a bad joke...he could be best described as an anti-Christ.  Having said that, Harrison should make peace with Big Ben and Mendenhall unless he wants out of the Burgh.  Since the later makes little sense, what could his motivation for tearing into team mates?

My advice to James is continue his rant towards the myopic, if not outright dupe, of Kraft, Jones, and the other populist owners but lay of fellow Steelers.

What else did Harrison tell magazine reporter?

Besides the guy who interviewed Harrison, who else really cares what Harrison says or think? I don't think Goodell, Ben, Mendenhall, McCoy, or whoever else that Harrison decides to talk crap about lost any sleep over what Harrison thinks of them or has to say about them? He,Harrison, is the one alienating himself so who cares.

White people?  Why not just say people?  You think that only white people wouldn't like that picture?  Black people are probably just as skeptical of that picture and of Harrison's comments as white people are.  Don't make this a race issue when it shouldn't be.

James Harrison said some stupid things and I think that both white and black people can agree on that.

That picture should not improve his perception amongst any civilized person.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that picture of Hairrson will not improve his perception amongst white people.
