Over the weekend, Cedric Benson was arrested in Austin for assault. The collective response from most folks was: "Again?"

That's a problem. And so is the fact that Benson was the third Bengal in the past eight days to get arrested (Adam "Pacman" Jones and Marvin White were both arrested in the last week). Fortunately, the Bengals can use the lockout to no-comment the rash of arrests away.

"The team is aware of the incidents," Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan said, per Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer. "However, as with most situations of this nature, it would be inappropriate for the team to comment until the matters are resolved through normal legal channels."

Unfortunately, as Reedy notes, Cincinnati leads the league in arrests since 2000, with 35!

That's not something they'll likely comment on now either, and it might not be anything too surprising (it is the Bengals) but it's still a disturbingly high number of arrests.

The -- somewhat anyway -- good news is that such a run on legal issues isn't a problem that stems out of the lockout and an associated rise in crime (you may recall noted sociologist Ray Lewis' theory on this).

It's a problem that stems specifically from the Bengals organization, and probably why the "national media continues to hammer" them for basically everything.

And much like Cincy suddenly rising up and winning a Super Bowl, change isn't something you should expect to see until there's a systematic overhaul of the franchise.

Re: Bengals Fan

The Browns suck but I have a lot more respect for them and a fan base that is actually loyal then the Bengals.

Should be "than the Bengals".

The difference between the Bengals and the Browns (other than the multitude of arrests) is that the Browns actually care. Mike Brown couldn't give a crap what the team's image is, or if they win any games so long as their idiot fans continue to buy tickets.

I really don't care what you guys say about my team.  At the end of the day its just a game.  but I find this hilarious.  We have a steelers fan stating that the bengals are not loyal fans but then a browns fan states that the fans are idiots because we continue to buy tickets.  Which one is it guys.  I didn't realize that fair whether fans continue to buy tickets to a losing team.  Kind of a double edged sword you two have painted here huh.  I would love to see you two geniuses debate this.  Oh and one more thing.  To you Glaumdog.  2000-2009.  Which one is your team record and which one is the bengals?  57-103 or 68-91.  now both of these records are terrible but I'm pretty sure you can guess which record is yours and which one is the bengals.  so the real question becomes who is the real loser here? The team that cares and can't get over the .400 winning percentage mark or the team that doesn't care and still does better than the stain marks of the NFL?

It's so embarrasing being a Bengals fan, but to be honest I have no choice they are my local team and damn it I don't care.  I guess it only makes the winning seasons a little sweeter.  I almost wish they would put me in charge because I think I could probably do a better job than Mike Brown does.

I do like the Packers though also and not just because they won it this year because I have liked them ever since Favre was there and they just kind of stuck with me even after he left.  I even bought a Packers shirt before the 2009 season when they were coming off a 6-10 season after Rodgers first season starting.

I wish I could make the Packers my number 1 team, I just can't do it because it would go against my policy of rooting for my home town team.  It just sucks because there's pretty much no chance they will ever win anything as long as the idiot Mike Brown is running the team.

What do you expect fro a bunch of children? They got through life so far believing they are above the law. "dude do you know who I am?" "ya want some tickets on the fifty?" Its the fame and lack of mentoring and if you read the week long articles on how everybody cheated in college this makes sense. When you grow up without learning how to cope and no real consequences why should you change? Their managers and agents just care about getting paid. Play victim and pay the victim thats the insanity doing the same thing over and over and thinking its gonna be different. Start putting fines on the agents hefty fines and watch them grow up fast.
