There was much rejoicing in the land of NFL fans on Thursday night when the NFL owners voted 31-0 to ratify a settlement agreement. There's just one problem: it's not exactly in-line with what the players were expecting.

CBSSSports.com has obtained an email from NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith to the players a few moments ago that indicates precisely how they feel.

"As you know the Owners have ratified their proposal to settle our differences. It is my understanding that they are forwarding it to us," the email reads. "As you may have heard, they apparently approved a supplemental revenue sharing proposal. Obviously, we have not been a part of those discussions.

Latest on Lockout

"As you know from yesterday, issues that need to be collectively bargained remain open, other issues such as workers compensation, economic issues and end of deal terms remain unresolved.

Smith's email concludes in a fashion that should sufficiently point out how differently the players view the owners' proposal.

"There is no agreement between the NFL and the Players at this time," Smith concludes. "I look forward to our call tonight."

The biggest fear for everyone involved is that the players might see the owners' decision to approve their own deal as a way of pushing public perception against the players. And that's entirely possible, but we won't know for sure until the end of the NFLPA call.

One thing's for sure, though: this isn't over yet.

Smith to players: 'There is no agreement'

If this is not done in the next 72 hours, I am canceling my season tickets and I will not return to another NFL until the greedy players who are currently playing are retired.

I have 2 young sons who love going to/watching the games with dad but would be just as hapoy going to a park and playing on the playground and getting ice cream. I would out around $6 versus about $400 when you take into account the cost of 4 tickets, souvenirs, and concessions. I can use the extra money to pay bills since I do not make $350,000 a year and that is for the 40th man who does not see the field. I have had it with players and to a less extent the owners. Get it done or else I am done with all of you!!!

Smith to players: 'There is no agreement'

I've heard the New CBA contract is some 400 pages, so I can see why it is taking so long to get the info out to 1800 or 1900 players. I say give them the time they need to have a chance to breif everyone concerned and answer questions, if they are any. There is no need to panick, we hav e waited this long a couple more day's won't matter, then if nothing is done find anothe pass time for the next 6 months. We have seen what happens when a contract is not read. Look at the Stimulus package and the Health Care Package that Congress passed, How many of them actually read it. I don't blame the players for being careful in this matter. It is something they and the players coming up are going to have to live with for the next 10 years.

Smith to players: 'There is no agreement'

Smith is the problem.  He wants to make a name for himself and unfortunately, the players are following his lead. It took the MLB several years to bounce back from their strike.  You depend on the fans - don't string us along or you might find out that we won't come back.

Smith to players: 'There is no agreement'

lets see ... the owners pay  the several hundred players billions in salary .... the players feel they are treated unfairly ... the players annoint a thug to represent them ... the owners want to continue paying the players billions .. the owners wish to provide more than the previous agreement ... the representative of the players say the owners are dealing illegally ... a few fans side with the players ... .. an overwhelming number of fans and more accurately a virtual majority hold Smith responsible for this holdup ... what conclusion can be drawn ...??? ... ...

No, it is the owners' fault for introducing new facets the the proposed agreement that were not discussed in the extensive meetings and negotiations that have gone on in the past months. The players are merely standing up for themselves.

Smith to players: 'There is no agreement'

Do you people remember when the players were requesting to only play TWO preseason games instead of four b/c it was to hard on them ????

It almost sounds like they are thinking lets hold out for another TWO WEEKS or so...then we will get our wish so our bodies are not beat up so badly when week one rolls around, we will still get paid our contracts we already have in place....ummmmm
