For whatever unholy reason, even the amazing news of a brand-new CBA can't go through without the rumors of Brett Favre possibly returning to the NFL.

Thankfully, Bus Cook is here to let us know that Favre's not coming back. We think. Probably. Period? Yes, period.

"Brett Favre retired in January," Cook told the Clarion Ledger. "He has not talked to any teams, including Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks. He has not talked to anyone about playing football.

"He's retired, period."

So, there you have it: Brett Favre is not walking through that door.

Of course, this is the NFL and this is Brett Favre we're talking about. Which means that until he is actually no longer on the field and there is actually football taking place, there will be rumors about him playing somewhere.

Most of these rumors -- the Panthers and Eagles for example -- don't make any sense whatsoever, primarily because of Favre's age and the drama he brings.

On the other hand, if the catch-22 to getting football back is wading through Favre rumors, well, it's still worth it.

I heard he has to come back because he's almost bankrupt due to an overindulgence of Skoal and all the money he sunk into after-market accessories for his Ride on Lawn Mower.  He'll join the Eagles and Andy Reid will play him in the NFC Championship game for 1 play, where he will throw an interception that is returned for a TD, causing the Eagles to lose the game.

Wouldnt bother me if he came back. The first year he played with the Vikings was one of the more fun seasons i have had with the team. It was great. He is still better than half to three quarters of the QB's out there.

Don't forget the Lions. They have a Quarterback that seems to have a hard time staying on the field. But seriously, it's time Favre stays put down on the farm.

Brett Favre will play for another NFC Central team...first it was the Packers, then the Vikings...I can only surmise that the Bears will be next.

Really Favre? What record does he want to break if he was to come back? The only QB to throw a TD from his wheelchair in the local Mc Comb, Mississippi retirement home? DO NOT COME BACK FAVRE.
