The trade for Donovan McNabb draws ever closer.

The Miami Herald’s Omar Kelly reported that the trade of McNabb from the Redskins to the Vikings was a done deal, as long as Minnesota can successfully renegotiate a new contract with McNabb.

Foxsports.com’s Jay Glazer, meanwhile, writes that the Vikings have agreed to send a sixth-round draft pick in 2012 and 2013 to the Redskins in exchange for McNabb.

Writes Glazer: “Vikes were hoping for Tyler Thigpen and looking at (Bruce) Gradkowski and in the end McNabb at that low price, picks and salary, not much to lose.”

I imagine we’ll hear about the end of this deal very soon, because McNabb is sure to agree to a paycut. At this point, what other choice does he have?

mcnabb's washed up and the vikings will not even make the playoffs.  Why do teams keep wasting all these millions on over the hill players?

Does this just stall while they prepare the First Round Shocker, or does this confirm that Ponder was a stretch at that high slot....

This would be a great move for both the Vikings and McNabb. Donovan still has game left, MINN has a good OL, they have the most dominant RB in the league, and if they re-sign them, have a few good if not great WR for McNabb to get it to. I feel this is the best fit for both parties... well done!

PLEASE STOP with the Adrian Peterson worship already! The Vikings have an average rushing attack that finishes in the middle of the pack every year. Peterson is about equal to any two moderately decent backs sharing carries for other teams. He has not been that great. He doesn't catch well, and he doesn't block well. He does seem imensley talented and perhaps behind the right line with the right blocking scheme he could be incredible, but playing behind the Vikes line he isn't a world beater.

Best wishes to McNabb and I hope he plays well for the Vikings.  Don't get why the Shanahan's didn't like him because he is still a pretty good QB.  Hopefully Sidney Rice re-signs with the Vikings and they will have a very potent offense.  They will not have to depend so much on McNabb since they have the best RB in football in Peterson.  Well, my Redskins will be playing for the #1 pick next year and Andrew Luck because John Beck and Rex Grossman will not get it done.  But, got to stick with my team through good and bad times!  Hail to the Redskins!

It doesn't matter.  If there #1 RB goes down, so will their season.  Now that the QB saga is over I wonder what they will focus on now?

The worst thing that can happen with McNabb is he will teach the young guys a thing or two.  Don't be surprised if he carries the Vikes for a while.
