Report: Kolb won't report to Eagles training camp

The Eagles already have one potential star who could hold out from training camp on their hands in DeSean Jackson and according to a report on Wednesday, they might have another: backup quarterback Kevin Kolb.

Though Kolb might not be a "star" per se, he is heavily involved in all the trade talk circulating around the NFL, particularly with the rumor that he's headed to the Cardinals in exchange for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and some draft-pick compensation.

But Philly and Arizona haven't been able to reach a deal as of yet, and so Kolb remains an Eagle for now. However, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Kolb won't be showing up to Philadelphia's camp at Lehigh University when it begins on Thursday.

McLane also adds that "other teams are interested" in Kolb, but correctly points out that there "aren't many viable candidates remaining." That's because there aren't -- as I've noted before, the Cardinals seem to be playing a dangerous game of chicken with the Eagles, hoping that market fluctuations would allow them to get the 26-year-old at a discount.

But with most of the other potential quarterbacks that Arizona could chase ending up with other teams, it's going to be tough for the Cards to convince the Eagles they actually do have other options.

There's is an argument that Kolb's decision to hold out would actually help Arizona, because Philadelphia might be more inclined to get a potential headache off their hands.

Although given the Eagles track record with pawning off quarterbacks at the right time, don't expect them to panic too much.

Redwings likes to go on long rants that don't make sense, based on everything I've seen from him. I'd just ignore the posts if I were you guys.

Redwings............ HUH?!

Does your genius self remember that Kold was the starter when the season began?

Maybe your genius self knows whether the Eagles knew he'd get hurt or forced Kolb to fake an injury.....

Since there was ZERO (your words, genius) chance Vick wouldn't be the starter, it has to be one or the other....

Redwings .....  they signed him to that contract to be thier starter, not the back up. Vick was the back up

Then I guess I'm a genius because I knew the second Vick was ready he was going to be the starter.  I knew 100 percent there was ZERO chance Vick wouldn't be the starter.   But Phili had to be careful, Vick hadn't started in years and they wanted a great insurance policy in case things didn't work out with Vick.... so they paid him very well to be a BACKUP.... never once did they believe he would be the starter. They pretended to give Kolb a chance just to keep the public happy, PETA, etc  but the Eagles knew what they were doing all along, and so did Kolb.

The Eagles told Kolb not to show. They said it on CSN this morning.

Redwins1969 sorry, but either you don't understand the situation or you don't have a clue.  My bet is Philly asked Kolb not to show and that a deal will happen before the end of Friday.

As If I cared IF KOLB does not Report to Training

Camp, Pay the man (Desean Jackson). When DeSean doesn't show up (which will happen) to camp, then I'd actually care.

It amazes me how selfish players truly are in the NFL. They care only for themselves. Not the team. Not getting into shape is gonna help you or the team you are currently or even the team you want to be on. Kolb is over-rated. I'd take my chances with Orton over him. He already has a big ego as it is by not showing up to camp.
