Donovan McNabb trade to Vikings 'done'

At various points on Tuesday and Wednesday, Donovan McNabb was as good as gone from Washington, borne out into the great midwest to mentor Christian Ponder with the Vikings, as first reported by CBSSports.com's own Mike Freeman.

But there was a little matter of McNabb agreeing to changing up his contract, since Minnesota obviously wasn't going to give him eight figures to do so.

That issue appears to have been cleared though, and the McNabb-to-Minny deal is "now official."

That's according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, who reported Wednesday that the deal is "done" and will be announced on Thursday.

A league source has confirmed the report to Freeman as well.

There haven't been precise details of the trade released yet, but it stands to reason that, as we previously noted, the Redskins will still receive a pair of sixth-round picks in return for McNabb.

Given that near-sickening drop in value, it's hard to imagine that McNabb will be getting all that much money from the Vikings just to play the role of mentor. But then again, he's out of Washington so whatever he had to give up is probably worth it.

Donovan McNabb trade to Vikings 'done'

Way to kill his career. Six out of ten times this year he will be getting BEAT DOWN by the best defensive fronts in football. The Packers defense will mutilate him, Juluis Peppers in Chicago will separate thos shoulders, and Fairley and Suh will make McNabb get of the ground ALL DAY. Take your pick Vikings... unless you want the Packers, Lions and Bears to demoliish the other QB you have up there...

Donovan McNabb trade to Vikings 'done'

I thought that there were a lot of homers in College football, but after reading some of these posts, I guess that there are just as many in Pro Football.  McNabb is washed up.  In his prime, he managed to go to 1 Superbowl, and blew that game when he took over 10 minutes off the 4th quarter clock when losing by 10 points.  Minnesota was 6-10 last season.  Minnesota was 1-5 against conference opponents last season.  Detriot is much imporved.  Chicago won the division last season.  Green Bay won the Superbowl.  They get to open at San Diego this season.  Their defense gave up 27 or more points in 7 games last season.  I am amazed that the Minnesota homers in here actually think that they can win the Division, much less challenge for the NFC Championship.  These are the people that keep the books rolling in money.  McNabb earned his nickname "McChoke".   Homers, please do not post your dribble in here.

Donovan McNabb trade to Vikings 'done'

Mcnabb is a great fit for this team unlike in Washington he has a run game here and the best running game he has ever had in his career. His best weapon hands down since he had TO...Butttttttttt................ It is Mcnabb we are talking about and all that will be achieved here is a 10 to 12 win season yes I said it with a play off loss on the road. I fully believe Mcnabb will make a huge impact on this team and no way possible he not the openning day starter. No way they let a unknown qb waste a other year with AP in the back field ...

Donovan McNabb trade to Vikings 'done'

If we look back on history and see how castoffs and much-maligned players have done on new teams...the prognosis is very good. With that in mind, I predict that the Vikings and the 49ers will meet in the NFC Championship game this year. Much have been said about how terrible McNabb and Alex Smith have been. But you know what.....it only takes the right system/coach to make them look good. Otherwise they look as clueless as playing for Mike Shanahan/Nolan/Singletary.
