Dolphins trade for Reggie Bush, signs 2-year deal

Reggie Bush was considered all but certain to be a salary cap casualty for the New Orleans Saints thanks to his $11.8 million salary for 2011 ... until they managed to trade him to the Miami Dolphins on Thursday morning.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports inititally reported the news (very) early on Thursday morning and the Miami Herald's Jeff Darlington confirmed the news, reporting that 'Fins GM Jeff Ireland wanted to "sleep on it."

Well, it looks like Ireland's awake now, and Bush is Miami-bound, as reports now indicate that Bush signed off on a two-year deal with the Dolphins.

Bush could be motivated to prove that he can indeed succeed as the featured back on a roster, which a move to Miami would likely let him do -- he and Daniel Thomas would theoretically provide a one-two punch in South Beach.

Plus he now get a fresh start -- things got ugly after the Saints decided to draft another former Heisman winner in Mark Ingram and Bush awkwardly tweeted "it's been fun" afterwards.

The running back market now changes dramatically, as the Dolphins were expected to compete for Ahmad Bradshaw and Ronnie Brown. Their decision to trade for Bush should allow inflation on running backs to sink a bit.

Dolphins trade for Reggie Bush, signs 2-year deal

Reggie Bust is nothing more than a slot receiver.  He will never be a featured back.  He still thinks and plays like he's in college.  Simple things like "run to the numbers and then cut" hasn't registered to him, or " you can't run backwards in the NFL".  He has shown, at best, blurs of greatness, but until college ball is coached out of him, he will only be a slot receiver who gains yards after catch, not when you hand or pitch him the ball.

Kind of ironic. Bush has not lived up to the hype yet, just like the Heat, and now he is taking his talents to South Beach.

SipDis... you are a certifiable moron!  I am suprised that you are allowed to roam the streets without supervision!

Reggie Bush has many many uses as a player, though I will never believe that "feature back" will be one of them.  This, however, will not drop a trade value to a 6th round pick.  Donovan McNabb, a QB way way past his prime, was traded for two 6th round picks and you're trying to lead me to believe that Reggie Bush is worth no more than that?

I rest my case...  you're an idiot~!

If the Dolphins gave up a 2nd round pick then Jeff Ireland should be fired immediately and Mickey Loomis should get a raise. That would be straight out robbery. There were a lot of options for Bush (renegotiating with the Saints, getting cut, traded, etc) that would raise some uncertainty, but I can't imagine that the Saints had enough leverage in this situation to receive a high round pick for him. I would guess the Saints received a 5th with some kind of performance escalator to move it up to a 4th.

This is one of those trades that really makes a lot of sense. Bush will add a new dimension to that offense. The combo of Bush and the rookie Thomas makes a lot of sense. Now if Bush can stay healthy.

2nd is a bit steep. I wouldn't give more than a 3rd.
