Reggie Bush was considered all but certain to be a salary cap casualty for the New Orleans Saints thanks to his $11.8 million salary for 2011 ... until they managed to trade him to the Miami Dolphins on Thursday morning.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports inititally reported the news (very) early on Thursday morning and the Miami Herald's Jeff Darlington confirmed the news, reporting that 'Fins GM Jeff Ireland wanted to "sleep on it."

Well, it looks like Ireland's awake now, and Bush is Miami-bound, as reports now indicate that Bush signed off on a two-year deal with the Dolphins.

Bush could be motivated to prove that he can indeed succeed as the featured back on a roster, which a move to Miami would likely let him do -- he and Daniel Thomas would theoretically provide a one-two punch in South Beach.

Plus he now get a fresh start -- things got ugly after the Saints decided to draft another former Heisman winner in Mark Ingram and Bush awkwardly tweeted "it's been fun" afterwards.

The running back market now changes dramatically, as the Dolphins were expected to compete for Ahmad Bradshaw and Ronnie Brown. Their decision to trade for Bush should allow inflation on running backs to sink a bit.

Good get for the Fins.  Once people stop comparing Reggie to Peterson they'll realize how good he is.  Reggie plays a position that nobody else can play.  Defensive Coords have to scheme to cover him.  When he lines up in the slot you have to cover him with a DB.  That's 1 less LB on the field.  That opens up running lanes for the true RB.

As a Saints fan I will miss him.

Lurch....the trade was for S Jonathan Amaya and a SWAP of undisclosed picks.....yeah you hit the nail on the head on this one with your "oh nothing less than a 2nd rounder" ya like dem apples?!

As for the rest of you who keep coming at me and saying something about Orton, did I say anything at all about Orton? No I don't want him b/c hes no better than most of the trash weve had since Marino and not worth a high pick. If they can get him for a 4th or lower then yeah go get him. Just not worth a 2nd....but then again this is the same organization that traded a 2nd for AJ feeley and what you homos wanted to trade from Reggie Bush. dumbasses.

Hey STR8 !  Let me set you Straight !

Michigan Alums ....Trash?!?  Tom Brady, George Allen, Dan Dierdorf, Lenny Ford, Benny Friedman, Billy Hewitt, Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch, Tommy Mack, Charles Woodson, Jim Mandich, Jake Long, Mario Manningham etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Your obviously an Ohio State fan...which is fine, if your going to tout your "Mr. Super Bowl MVP", great...let me set you straight on a matter.

LIKE ...GREATEST QB OF ALL-TIME and TWO TIME Mr. SUPER BOWL MVP - Tom Brady !  (Michigan Alum.)

BTW...Teddy Ginn Jr. (LMFAO) ... The guy couldn't catch a cold. He sucked in Miami and he sucks in SF and he will suck anywhere else he goes.

Reggie Bush for a 2nd rounder ...Great !  He's not the answer I would choose at RB for the Dolphins but for a 2nd rounder, I'll take kick returner, 3rd down back ability he brings.

I don't want Kyle Orton...I'd rather grab another top trench guy on either side of the ball.

I still believe Chad Henne will be a great NFL QB. (He has barely started one full season in the NFL)

After all that yes peace. What is wrong with that ? Especially since i sincerely end all my threads that way if you have ever seen any of mine you would know that. A person has a right to say what they want, it doesn't mean i hate someone just because i give them a little hell now does it.

@ Tater14, Is 14 your age? It sounds like it, why would Reggie Bush renegotiate with the Saints ? Remember the Saints drafted and signed Mark Ingram, not much of a future for Bush in New Orleans wouldn't you say. As for getting cut Bush was in the last year of his Saints contract, if they cut him they would receive no compensation at all, that would be real smart huh. Traded ? Well that is exactly what they did for a draft pick. Leverage, maybe not but in desperation they had to make a trade, which again is what they did. The uncertainty here is your knowledge of foot ball apparently, or how the business part is done anyway. In next years draft a second round pick is not much of a sacrifice, not that much talent at the positions the Dolphins would be drafting for anyway. A second round pick for Reggie Bush, a very multi talented athlete who can do more than just run the ball down field sounds pretty good to me. Jeff Ireland gets a raise in my book, since the Dolphins whole back field went by way of free agency. Wouldn't you say ? Probably not but like i said you don't seem to grasp the concept of wheeling and dealing in the NFL.

@ SipDis, what ever the hell that means. The only moron i see in here, well the major moron i see in here is you. Tell someone something they don't already know why don't you. The deal is Miami is supposedly going after Kyle Orton, this being the case do you think Orton would pass up signing with a young talented team like the Dolphins ? Finally to get to play behind a real offensive line for once in his career, finally to have a running game to take some pressure off him and to have a defense that could actually hold a lead once he guided them to one. Not likely, do you actually watch foot ball ? By your dumb azz remarks i doubt it seriously. Ever hear the old cliché those who live in glass houses should not throw stones ? Oh I'm sorry by the looks of your IQ you probably don't even know what it means. Get a life jerk.
