Reggie Bush was considered all but certain to be a salary cap casualty for the New Orleans Saints thanks to his $11.8 million salary for 2011 ... until they managed to trade him to the Miami Dolphins on Thursday morning.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports inititally reported the news (very) early on Thursday morning and the Miami Herald's Jeff Darlington confirmed the news, reporting that 'Fins GM Jeff Ireland wanted to "sleep on it."

Well, it looks like Ireland's awake now, and Bush is Miami-bound, as reports now indicate that Bush signed off on a two-year deal with the Dolphins.

Bush could be motivated to prove that he can indeed succeed as the featured back on a roster, which a move to Miami would likely let him do -- he and Daniel Thomas would theoretically provide a one-two punch in South Beach.

Plus he now get a fresh start -- things got ugly after the Saints decided to draft another former Heisman winner in Mark Ingram and Bush awkwardly tweeted "it's been fun" afterwards.

The running back market now changes dramatically, as the Dolphins were expected to compete for Ahmad Bradshaw and Ronnie Brown. Their decision to trade for Bush should allow inflation on running backs to sink a bit.

Dolphins trade for Reggie Bush, signs 2-year deal

YO tonycash, you say you are a Dolphins fan,i don't see it. If you are even a knowledgeable football fan you would know that a move to a new team with a RB that has the talent of Reggie Bush always motivates.

You might be saying "WHY" now but, if i see you singing Reggie's praises later in the year when he is running all over the AFC defenses I'll make your time on this site miserable for the duration of the season. It will be my mission

Reggie Bush needed a change and, he finally got one, the right one. Miami's offensive line will open him up for some very memorable runs down field as well as Daniels, if the season ever starts.

I mean what in gods name is your problem with Bush? He has proven that he is one of the premier backs in the league, in the AFC he will find it a lot easier to find holes in defenses. The NFC has some brutal run stoppers, a lot more than the AFC has to be sure.

Be happy man if you are a true Dolphins fan, i know i am and I'm praying they can get Kyle Orton in our offense as well, or are you opposed to that as well. Oh well we will see if  foot ball ever starts in the NFL this year. Personally the signing of Bush is the only thing that brought me back to even giving a crap about foot ball this year.

                                                       PEACE

Wow. Thank goodness he didn't go to the Colts. As a Jags fan that would have been a disaster. Him in that offense....

I think the saints would have kept reggie at the 5 mill per year he got from Miami, but reggie wanted a commitment from payton that he would be a bigger part of the offense and sean could not make that statement. So the saints did the next best thing they dealt him to a team in the AFC so the trade is less likely to come back and bite us onthe  ass. It would be every saints worst nightmare to have bush come back as a falcon or buc. Because you know he would make the game against the saints his highlite reel even if he didn't do anything the rest of the year. If maimi wants to get anything out of bush they need to get better play out of the qb position. Reggie, when healty, is good for about 8 or 10 great plays per year. The problem is he also good for about 5 or 6 bad plays per game. You just need to hope the bad plays don't hurt you more than the good plays help.

Hey Sipdis....SUCKDIS......The move for Orton was money...reuniting him with marshall will pay dividends....as will the move for REGGIE!  Henne is trash as is the case with most Michigan Alums in the NFL errr Braylon Edwards anyone OR Santonio Holmes?????  Um that's Mr.  "Super Bowl MVP" to any haters!!!  Saints fans know what's up with Will "Getting Jiggy Wit It" Smith and Malcolm Jenkins.  Too bad the 'Fins didn't have Orton a couple years earlier or else they would know what's up too. i.e Teddy Ginn Jr baby!!!

Yes the Dolphins had that in Ted Ginn Jr., they just didn't utilize him in such a way that it worked out in both of their interest.  They didn't give him the reps that they should have.  Maybe they'll give Bush more reps in those areas so he'll shine like Ted Ginn would've, oh well we shall see how he is used in this system.

No matter what team that Bush plays for,he will never be considered as a "every down" running back. There's only a few of those left in the league and those teams who currently have one are going to the "two back" system in hopes to change up the team's running game. The only good thing that Bush has going for him is that he can be utilized as a WR/KR/PR,but wait a minute.....didn't the Dolphins have something like that in Ted Ginn Jr.?!

Maybe this trade will work out like the Rickey Williams trade did for you guys, minus the marijuana issues.
