Dolphins trade for Reggie Bush, signs 2-year deal

Reggie Bush was considered all but certain to be a salary cap casualty for the New Orleans Saints thanks to his $11.8 million salary for 2011 ... until they managed to trade him to the Miami Dolphins on Thursday morning.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports inititally reported the news (very) early on Thursday morning and the Miami Herald's Jeff Darlington confirmed the news, reporting that 'Fins GM Jeff Ireland wanted to "sleep on it."

Well, it looks like Ireland's awake now, and Bush is Miami-bound, as reports now indicate that Bush signed off on a two-year deal with the Dolphins.

Bush could be motivated to prove that he can indeed succeed as the featured back on a roster, which a move to Miami would likely let him do -- he and Daniel Thomas would theoretically provide a one-two punch in South Beach.

Plus he now get a fresh start -- things got ugly after the Saints decided to draft another former Heisman winner in Mark Ingram and Bush awkwardly tweeted "it's been fun" afterwards.

The running back market now changes dramatically, as the Dolphins were expected to compete for Ahmad Bradshaw and Ronnie Brown. Their decision to trade for Bush should allow inflation on running backs to sink a bit.

Good Luck Miami!  For every highlight reel (all impressive for sure) there are probably three that are not so impressive. But when he was on point there was no beating him.  He can be very explosive and might do well in the Miami system.

Goodbye Reggie Bush..hello Darren Sproles.  Sproles is not afraid to run inside, good 3rd down back and can return punts and kicks.  Come on Saints..make it happen!

Hey dolphin_fan23 really it's not a bad deal for Miami at all considering the fact that he MIGHT play at least 8 or 9 games a year. This guy is always hurt and Miami will serve him well as it's not about football with Reggie it's about being seen with people who are in the news. Reggie alway seems to miss games but he never ever misses a party! Good luck Miami!

Orton was good in Chicago. Orton was good in Denver. In Miami, Orton gets RB in space and gets BM deep and gets some very good possession WR's and gets a TE that can catch.

Orton has many NFL starts and many wins. Fins MUST have him to maximize the RB trade.

Well maybe Miami doesn't need fans like you entersandman.  I don't care if we do supposedly have 2 WRs we have always had 2 WRs, whether ppl like it or not Ginn was fast as hell and I know that doesn't mean you are a good reciever, but the Wildcat was and still should be another formation that defensive coordinators have to deal with.  The yards we averaged with the wildcat as opposed to before are like night and day, apparently you never saw any of those stats otherwise you wouldn't say we don't need or want it anymore.

The tap dancing ballerina is taking his talents to Souff Beach..as Lebron James said.  I wish him well.  When he runs east/west atleast he'll hit the ocean or gulf..and he will have you Dolphin fans pulling your hair out doing that all year.  He's been sliding down hill since his rookie year.  But, he did help the Saints win the SB..the Arizona playoff game was his shining moment.

I'm happy the Saints got something in return, a fourth rounder and a safety, because he would have been cut this afternoon.  Change is good for everyone.  Good luck..stay healthy #25.

And..GEAUX SAINTS!!!

orton is another wasted draft pick  he went 3-10 last year    he threw for alot cause his team sucked.  Henne had a terrible line and a horrible OC.  he needs one more chance.
