Vince Young officially released by Titans

We all knew that it was coming, and we all knew that it was likely coming on "Bloody Thursday" (the NFL's waiver wire opened his afternoon), but now it's official: Vince Young is no longer a Titan, having been released by Tennessee.

"We reached out to Vince, Tony [Brown] and their agents today to inform them of their release," Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt said in a statement released by the team. "As we have said since January, it was time for us to go in a different direction at quarterback and we have done that. As for Tony, his body just hasn’t allowed him to play like he has in the past despite his best efforts.

"Both of these players have been productive for us, and we appreciate their contributions to our team through the years."

The immediate speculation circulating for Young's next landing spot centers on the Eagles, who recently traded Kevin Kolb, as Philadelphia could certainly be in the market for a project-type quarterback with upside to backup Michael Vick. (Our own Clark Judge agrees, having floated the idea out there earlier on Twitter.)

After that, people will wonder if Young could end up with the Dolphins, who are clearly in the market for a quarterback, being heavily rumored as suitors for Denver's Kyle Orton.

In fact, Young might be the red herring that brings Orton's price down -- if Miami can convince Denver that they'll walk away from Orton and just go with Young, it's entirely possible the Broncos could drop the price on their would-be starter.

Regardless, it's clear that Young's potential future success has many folks divided. But that won't keep him from getting a shot somewhere.

Not an Eagles fan, but have to give it to them. They recognize talent when the see it. What did they recognize? That VY has far more upside than downside,

he's actually won 64% (30/47).  he's very much like kordell, good winning percentage but people don't necessarily feel that either of them are really the primary reason for those wins.  they will argue its the defense and running game that won those games.  career passer rating of around 75 and 42 passing touchdowns to 42 ints.  either way, he's a good back up to vick in philly.

How is 30-17 a joke? thats 56% of his games he has won. Look at the starting qb's in this league and find how mnay games they are over.500. 2 pro-bowls. Anyone who thinks VY can't ball is crazy. Bottom line is that a team will pick him up and all the haters will be still mad. The only people who actually beleve the bs they post are the only ones who are listening to themselves.

As a titans fan im glad to see him released, the players didnt want to play with him, and when the defense started getting worse you could see that it was really the defense that won him those games, look at the td to interception ratio. good player just didnt fit the titans scheme. too bad because if it wasnt for him we probably would still have jeff fisher.
