It was just a few hours ago when we told you that the Bears had put TE Greg Olsen on the trading block, as agent Drew Rosenhaus tweeted that Chicago was willing to be very “reasonable” in who they got for swapping Olsen.

The Panthers have taken the Bears up on the deal.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Olsen is on his way to Carolina in exchange for a player (not likely named Steve Smith) and for an undisclosed draft pick.

Olsen caught 41 passes last year for 404 yards and five touchdowns, and he’ll join a crowded tight end group in Carolina with Jeremy Shockey and Ben Hartsock already on the roster.

TE Olsen traded to Panthers for pick and a player

@JIMMYNONECK...I freakin drove 4 hours each way to watch that awful game at the new Giants stadium. My boy invited me and gave me the ticket for free. He failed to tell me the seat was the last f ing row at the top of the stadium! They need to block better for sure but Olsen is a play maker. I haven't seen him run over to many guys but i've seen him out run some DB's. He will excel in another system thats run be Mike Martz

Don't forget the new O-Coordinator in Carolina was the TE coach in SD and has ties to Olsen from Miami, trade makes a lot of sense for Carolina.

Personally I think this is a mistake and bonehead move.  The TE can be a powerful weapon....unfortunately the Bears are too blind to see it.  Stupid move.  I hope Olsen does well here at Carolina.

It's likely one of the RBs, either Stewart or Goodson, since DAW got the big contract.

Shockey and Olsen will be awesome together in the red zone.

Please theupset, Jeremy Shockey will not make it through training camp without getting hurt and Greg Olsen is soft. If the Bears get anything back that can make the team the Bears scored with this trade. In the 4 years Olsen was with the Bears I can not remember 1 time that he broke a tackle and he is 6-5 255. One other thing, you do know the red zone is the 20 yard line and in?  You really think the Panthers are going to be there that often?

I only hope that the player to be named is a good offensive lineman because if I have to watch Cutler get sacked nine times in one half of a football game, I'll hang myself with my Urlacher jersey. This is a horrible, short-sighted move if Martz is not the O.C. for the long term.

Olsen's numbers just fell of the face of the planet with that crowded TE field in Carolina.  I think both teams lost here.

Needed to be done.  Olsen cannot block and they need a blocking TE in the worst way.  Thankfully Cutler will no longer be forcing passes to Olsen while in double coverage.
