Vince Young was released by the Titans on Thursday, prompting much Twitter screaming from us. What? We were excited. (And we forgot to wash our hands after lunch so our Caps Lock key was stuck.)

So was Andy Reid apparently, because according to a report Friday from Albert Breer of the NFL Network, he didn't take long to reportedly sign Young to a one-year deal with Philly.

The likelihood of Young signing with the Eagles was first reported Thursday by CBSSports.com's own Clark Judge.

The Eagles have yet to confirm that they've signed Young, but according to our Eagles Rapid Reporter Kevin Noonan, starting quarterback Michael Vick has.

"I'm looking forward to having him in here and I'm looking forward to working with him," Vick said.

But there was some confusion as to whether or not Young would have to clear waivers, but the NFL cleared the situation up on Friday, pointing out that players with four or more years of service like Young and former Cowboys wideout Roy Williams did not need to clear waivers before negotiating with teams.

Young -- and anyone else -- still can't sign until 6:00 p.m. ET on Friday, but it now appears that he's free to negotiate a deal as the Eagles backup.

Not that it really would have mattered -- no one was going to claim Young and burn more than $4 million in roster bonus money for someone that really only appears to be coveted as a backup by one or two teams.

Report: Vince Young takes 1-year deal with Eagles

Most would agree it would've been nice to seen him in a Texans uniform but instead the Eagles OVERPAID for him.
1 year $5 milllion are you serious?  lolololololol....
The Eagles definitly made some great defensive moves on the defense that's for damn sure. I know I wouldnt mind having the Eagles DEF on fantasy draft but damn thats a waste of cash for a bench warmer and you better hope he can make 2nd string.

I have mixed feelings about this move. I think it's smart if the price is right, everyone said Philly was stupid to sign Vick but I think Philly got the deal of the century. If Young decides to shut up, listen and learn Philly can put him back on track. The only thing that would mess this up is if he doesn't work hard and get the playbook down, Philly fans will eat him for lunch. He thought the fans got on him in Tenn? That Mr Sensitive act better be gone or he will be.

Yeah, it's a smart move bu Philly. VY can't play the race card on this one...- and maybe he'll listen to Vick, since he's a brother.
I'm just glad he's out of Tennessee.

If Vick goes down at least Philly will have another scrambling quarterback.  However, if Young plays like crap the Philly fans will crucify him.  I think now is a great time to invest in Kleenex - their company stock will go sky high when the cameras show Young crying and blowing his nose into that Kleenex Tissue!  Maybe his agent will read this and get him an endorsment deal!

Good back up for Vick. Now for the Naysayers.....who would you pick out of the light qb pool. We got DRC for kolb and a second rounder, why i think it is a one year deal. Who was out there? Delhomme was the best option I think that was available. The eagles could have signed him for less and had a qb with NFC playtoff experience. Young has to many emotional issues and Philadelphia is not a place for a "softee". If he can survive. Tennessee is more forgiving than Philly. Vince Young had issues with players and coaching staff. He threw players and coaches under the bus. He will either get a rude awaking or wake up. This is one signing I think that has great upside and a steeeeeep downside. Can Philly afford another TO? This only time will tell. It is also up to Vince Young to either grow up or go home.

All I have to say is a great deal for Vince Young this is by far the best thing for him in his career to go to the Eagles to be under Vick . This will make him better no doubt and he is knowing he is the number two so he will have to work hard. Do not be suprised after Vick gets hurt Young flourishes and creats a qb controversy there.
