BurressPosted by Josh Katzowitz

Since free agent Plaxico Burress was released from prison, there has been no shortage of rumors of where the 34-year-old ultimately could resume his career.

Would it be his old team, the Giants? Apparently, they’re interested. The Bears? Not so much. The Eagles? Michael Vick certainly wouldn’t mind that. The Jets? Sounds like they might take a shot at him.

Well, what about the Steelers? If Burress’ eating habits are any indication, it sounds like Pittsburgh is a real player to land Burress.

According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette’s Ed Bouchette, Burress had breakfast with Steelers coach Mike Tomlin on Saturday morning. Burress also met with team president Art Rooney and GM Kevin Colbert, who drafted Burress in 2000 (in case you forgot, Burress played his first five seasons in the league with the Steelers).

Said Colbert to reporters: “Obviously he's interested. His agent is interested and we're interested, so where it goes we'll find out.”

Colbert said he didn’t know how much money Burress would command, but if his expectations aren’t too high -- and coming off his prison stint, I don’t know why they would be -- Burress could be a nice fit to build some depth at the WR position.

All of this depends on how much solid football Burress actually has left in his body. Which, of course, nobody knows at this point.

HEY MR NE ARE YOU SAYING HOMER...LOL So you post your homerin Wes but complain about Hines???lol Your as bad of a Homer!!! Put Hines in New Englands Pass happy offense and he would put up the same numbers..I am not a homer because I am no Steeler fan but I would take Hines with his blocking and two super bowls over your boy and his stats only. Wes blew up in a system Hines is just a beast of a player and teammate, He would shine on any team , Wes was average in Miami but fit New Englands system perfect. Good thing your not picking the football team up there in New England or you would get guys who can not pass physicals or are over rated Wide out with spanish names.. Oh yeah thats right New England did get those guys have fun with that homer..Ok I am rambled enough Plax to Steelers is the subject and I can see it happening book it he is a Steeler , you can own guns in Pittsburgh with out getting a jail sentence for shooting yourself.

Why would the Steelers even give Sweed a chance this year?  His pass dropping ability is huge, great potential.

Somebody on here actually said Hines Ward is the best posession receiver in the game. I don't know about you, but I'll take Wes Welker ANY DAY over some Hines Ward.  Nice homer call though.   Hines Ward is not what he once was.  He was never Wes Welker though.

I dont think the Steelers need another aging wide reciever to slow down the group they have now. Hines Ward is no longer a serious threat beyond twenty yards, and to take up a spot that could be filled by one of the faster, AND younger recievers seems not too smart. However,,, Burress brings experience and playmake ability! Something the Steelers seem to lack at that position, beyond Wallace. I agree, a shut down corner would be more useful, unless the Steelers plan on airing it out and putting huge numbers on the score board!!! Seriously, how long can this aging defense hold up???

Whether he gets signed or not will probably be based on what his motives are.  The Steelers are a great organization to go to if you want to prove you can be a good teammate and play a role, leadership is already defined.  If he wants a big payday he should probably try Philly or NY cause the Steelers aint biting.

Don't need this bum.  I'd much rather have a cover corner.  The Steelers will be fine on offense.  It's the pass defense that worries me.

Ok if the Steelers aren't interested then y would they let him have a meeting with the steelers head coach and the Rooney Family. And he would be a great fit with the steelers cause he can teach the new guys some tricks and become a better WR in the process so yeah he would be a great fit and theres a really good chance.
