The Colts have been busy with their checkbook today, and the offense will be better for it (or presumably, just as good as it was last year).

We’ve already told you about the epic signing of QB Peyton Manning, and now, courtesy of WISH-TV (via the Indianapolis Star) we bring to you the news that RB Joseph Addai has re-signed with the squad.

Though Addai rushed for at least 1,000 yards his first two years in the league, he’s missed 13 games combined in the past three years and has not topped the 850-yard mark.

But, when healthy, he’s a solid player, and with Donald Brown and Javarris James also on the squad, Addai is certainly the best running back on the team.

A RB in Indy has to: 1. Keep Manning upright 2. Catch the ball 3. Score from 1-2 yards out.

Addai is their guy. Solid signing.

Addai is a great blocker for Manning. He does what the Colts/Manning asks of him. The Colts aren't going to become a running powerhouse. So you keep the smart players that know your system and let Manning do the rest.

As a Colts fan, I wish I could see how much of a contract he got... I believe Bush got two years at 10 million in Miami (5 mil per), and if Addai got more than that it is a joke. He hasn't been that good as of late, and as a fan I was actually hoping the Colts might grab one of the available free agents out there. I think 1-2 may still be available, but with Addai signed I do not think they will pursue any. The Colts need a better run game period. The offense is still very good, but when they had James running the ball, they were GREAT!

I am not sure where you get your information from but the Colts can and do beat New England. Just last year (even without all the injured players) the Colts only lost by 3 at New England. So, they have a shot at them every year. I guess we will find out this year early if the Steelers are that much better than the Colts. Week 3 in Indy. The health of the Colts will determine how they do, when healthy they compete with any team, but if they struggle to stay on the field, we are vulnerable to losing games. I am optimistic that we will do fine with what we have. When you have Peyton and the offense, we always have a chance. Freeney and the boys just have to keep it close, Peyton should be the difference.

Mighty Steelers?......NO, how about the mighty D of the Steelers!!!!....without their D they are a bunch of players with legal (rape and DUI) and mental (Harrison) problems. I agree about the Patriots, but I think the Colts will be the second best AFC team this year.

Peyton is possibly the best quarterback in the NFL and he took less money to help the club aquire  or retain free agents. But, this doesnt erase the fact that they need to beat New England. They dont have enough skill players to contend against the Pats. Let alone the Jets and the mighty Steelers. Manning is a great guy but that wont cut it this year!
