Report: DeSean Jackson to end holdout

DeSean Jackson hinted at a holdout last week but now, according to 6ABC in Philadelphia, the Eagles wide receiver will report to training camp at Lehigh University, either Monday or Tuesday.

The team's second-round pick in the 2008 draft has become one of the most dynamic players in the league during this three-year career, and Jackson wants a contract that reflects that. He's in the final year of his rookie deal, one that will pay him $565,000 in 2011. Still, the organization has no interest in talking to Jackson about a new deal until he reports to camp.

Eagles president Joe Banner, appearing on the 610 WIP Radio Morning Show Monday, didn't mince words.

“I think it would be best if DeSean came into camp and focused on being the best player he can be. Whether that’s short term or long term, that serves his goal and ours the best.”

This is the same stance the Titans are taking with running back Chris Johnson, although Johnson has said previously that he has no plans to report until he has a long-term deal.

The Eagles, meanwhile, have had a busy week accumulating talent. In addition to cornerbacks Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Philly added Jason Babin and Vince Young.

Getting Jackson back in the mix makes the NFC's early Super Bowl favorite even better.

Report: DeSean Jackson to end holdout

I love the Ryan family!  The Eagles-Cowboy's rivalry has gotten a bit stale over the past 10 years.  Leave it Buddy's boy to add some spice back to it.  I think it's going to be a closer race between the Birds, Cowboys & Giants than people think (Sorry Redskin's fans!).  Despite all of the Eagle's off-season moves, we still have a few major issues that have yet to be addressed.

Seems like everybody has forgotten that their O- Line was put together at a Wal Mart blue light special.  Really glad J. Jackson is back, him and Nick Cole could be on the all physique league....

Haha!  First, he played like Shawn Bradley, so that's why I called him that.  Sorry about the spelling on Maclin, but it doesn't change my point on his physical condition.  Rookie kickers?  Nothing is automatic with those guys.  Let's keep our fingers crossed every time one of those rooks take the field.  And yes I know all teams have flaws and injuries too (injuries will come), but the Eagles didn't address some of their major flaws from last year.  I appreciate how jacked up you are over the Eagles, but I would suggest you tone it down a notch.  There is still a lot of work to do before we start talking Super Bowl.  Let's be realistic about the problems that still have not been addressed and we can reassess the team when they are ready to play.

And by the way, I don't live in a basement.  My basement has a 55 inch 1080P with full surround sound, a bathroom game room, office and a bedroom.  I could live down there, but I don't.  Chill out dude.  All I am saying is our team still has plenty of question marks.

...will be perhaps the best rival games to watch this year.
