Sparano on Favre: 'I can't rule anything out'

UPDATE (4:00 p.m.): Bus Cook, Favre's agent, likened Favre to Elvis (no, really) in an attempt to downplay the rumors.

"Brett Favre's retired, that's all I can say," Cook told ESPN. "He's like Elvis now. People just won't let go."

------

The Brett Favre watch isn't dead, we're sorry to inform you. We thought it was dead when his agent Bus Cook told the press that Favre is "retired, period."

But then Tony Sparano, who's dealing with some major quarterbacking drama down in Miami, had to go and refuse to say he wouldn't look at Favre for the Dolphins.

"I can't rule anything out...I'm giving you the only answer I can give you," Sparano told reporters when asked about Favre, per Omar Kelly of the Miami Sun-Sentinel.

But all the fault isn't on Sparano -- Dave Hyde, a Sun-Sentinel columnist definitely poured a couple gallons of gasoline on the proverbial fire when he decided to write a column Thursday titled, "Why shouldn't the Dolphins call Brett Favre?"

His list of five specific reasons why the 'Fins should sign Favre are, actually, not that suspect, outside of the part about turning "the Dolphins from a team no one's talking about to one everyone is."

That's just silly, in my opinion. And not because all the publicity surrounding Favre with the Jets and Vikings the last two years has been terrible either. It's because the goal is to win football games, not "get attention."

But, yeah, I'll recognize that Favre might sell more tickets than incumbent Chad Henne. And jerseys. And ... well, maybe that one works too, dammit.

Still, couldn't we at least just let the initial overtures on Favre begin in a way that doesn't require me to delete a bunch of comments telling me that "this isn't news"? Please?

Didn't think so -- and so we beat on, boat in the past and whatnot.

Sparano on Favre: 'I can't rule anything out'

no facts to back it up??? ummmm thought i gave that to you but ill be more exact now.
only TWO QB's had a worse comp % then Sanchez.....Clausen and Anderson......54.8 comp % yikes, thats horrible dude!!!
and as bad as Henne was last year his was over 60% and not by much but Henne did have a better QB rating......just talking QB, so dont start with he made afc title game and all that....for god sakes guys like hostetler and dilfer won super bowls, does that make them good??
everyone knows that Sanchez is one of the worst QB's in football.

Sparano on Favre: 'I can't rule anything out'

dude sanchez sucks!!! he had the worst comp 5 in the nfl last year. this from a guy who didnt throw much either. the guy is horrible and the jets made 2 AFC champ games cause of 1 reason, there defense is top 5 in the league. they made it despite horrible QB play.
i dont need a crystal ball to say i think Henne will have a good year......i never said i know 100% he will be great, just said i think he will have a good year and i believe it. we'll see. ill say this, my crystal ball says the jets dont make another AFC title game, there overrated, there offense stinks, LT is older, no running game......and as good as u think the jets are, my Dolphins STILL have won 3 of 4 the last 2 years from u clowns!!! then u said what does weight have to do with rex?? and that only clueless people make insults?? thats funny cause a few posts later YOU insult some poster on here.............

You are probaly Middle aged, overweight and have neverplayed any sports in your life.

Sparano on Favre: 'I can't rule anything out'

Ok, 8 Ball. Let me school you some more. This is actually fun. (I'll begin by using some of your own vernacular, to make sure you understand)...1st off -- Vince Vega is the name of one of the characters from the movie Pulp Fiction. Ever heard of that?  2nd off -- if what you say is true, you have to be the most immature and childish grown man in Valley Steam. You have your own business? Child, please, stop lying! --- 3rd off -- I'm glad that you are glad that I feel like educating you from miles away. Don't think that I'm calling you names, I'm just trying to help you become less of a jack-off.  Go back through the string, you began the name calling, doofus.  So please, help me to help you. -- 4th off -- I love my life. The wrestling thing is a goof, not sure why you are so put off by it. You must be a "pea brained" fool. -- 5th off --- I was just kidding before about telling Stone Cold, but now I really will tell Mr. McMahon what you said about wrestling being fake, and I'll tell the King of Kings, Triple H. Finally, I see you are back to writing in that demented random CAPITALIZATION format. Hahaha! What up with that?
Ok, so now, don't respond with slander about Virginia. Please look up references you don't understand before responding, don't just throw out stupidity in your response.

brian8ball you are comical

brian8ball, you are comical every time you poke your ignorant head out to say something ridiculous.  Ok, let’s address your idiotic comments.  Now let me try and “profile” you based on your comments. You are a dopey, angry, pimply faced kid who has never gotten laid.  Ok, you got me, Bert was pretty good for a couple years. He’s still a tool though. He’s in the top 20, not top 10.  Now get out of your room and stop staring at that poster of Bert on your wall.
That’s it, I’m going to tell Stone Cold Steve Austin that you think wrestling is fake. I hope he doesn’t stomp a mud-hole in you and then walk it dry. I’ll also have to tell Ric Flair, Woooooooo!!
By the way, I noticed you didn’t write in that strange RANDOM capitalization WAY. Glad I could teach you something.

Sparano on Favre: 'I can't rule anything out'

, what are you talking about? None of those guys are dead. -- 1st off, why DO you CAPITALIZE some WORDS, in the middle of SENTENCES? That's odd, it gives your writing somewhat of a demented look, but whatever, I guess you'll learn the rules of capitalization next year, in the 8th grade. Bert did hold Rodgers back with his prima donna "will he or won't he come back" act every year. What a baby. He hurt the JETS as even last year they had to deal with the fallout of the Bert Favor scandal. Seriously, sending a picture of his Package to a sideline girl? WTF??
