Childress: Moss 'vomited' on Vikings locker room

ChildressPosted by Josh Katzowitz

It’s the best quote from former Vikings coach Brad Childress that you’ll probably ever see. But hey, WR Randy Moss -- supposedly retired these days -- brings out the best in just about everybody, even the coach who he sorta, kinda helped get fired.

While talking to NFL.com about Moss, who was handed to the Vikings last season after the Patriots decided they didn’t need him anymore, Childress said this about his former WR: "We had good guys, by and large [but Moss] walked in the locker room and vomited on it."

Yikes, right?

Childress went on to say that perhaps he should have consulted owner Zygi Wilf before deciding to cut Moss, and that didn’t help his standing with the person who had the power to fire him (it also didn’t help matter that Childress wasn’t exactly known as a people-person and that he had led the team to a 3-7 record when he was canned).

"I should have gone up the chain," Childress said.

Childress obviously had no idea the situation would become so bad, especially when he first talked to Moss about playing in Minnesota.

"He called me and said, 'I can't wait, I can't wait. I feel like I'm coming home again,'" Childress said.

Instead, Moss caught 13 passes in four games and helped get his coach fired before he ended up as an irrelevant bench player in Tennessee. Now, both are out of work, and their return as a viable player and as a future NFL head coach is questionable.

Childress: Moss 'vomited' on Vikings locker room

Childress would pass the blame on his failures off onto Randy Moss. The fact of the matter is that Brad Childress was on the hot seat for pretty much his entire career in Minnesota; with the exception of 2009 (Brett Favre's Great Run). On a weekly basis, he was the subject of suspect playcalling and poor coaching. I can't say whether or not Randy Moss had a negative effect on the Vikings locker room last year, but Childress doesn't have the right to pawn off last season's failure on Moss.

Anybody else here think Childress is a little weasle???  What kind of coach calls out and blames players for his failures?  First, he blames Favre, now he's calling out Moss.  I guess he doesn't want another head coaching job, because noone wants to hire a punk who's never going to assume responsibility for his own failures.

PISS ON RANDY MOSS!

RANDY MOSS WAS AND STILL IS A PUNK.  THIS COMES FROM A MINNESOTA VIKING FAN SINCE 1975.  ALL HE CARED ABOUT WAS HIMSELF.  HE WAS NEVER A TEAM PLAYER.  HE HAD A LOT OF MENTAL ISSUES AND THUS SHOULD HAVE SOUGHT A THERAPIST.  MY THOUGHTS OF HIM WERE CONFIRMED WHEN JOHN MADDEN MADE A COMMENT DURING A VIKINGS GAME THAT MOSS DIDN'T GIVE AN HONEST EFFORT ON EVERY PLAY!  I HOPE THIS SAD EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING FINDS PEACE IN HIS LIFE BECAUSE ARROGANT AND PRIDEFUL PEOPLE LIKE HIM WILL HATE THE REST OF THEIR LIVES.

Childress: Moss 'vomited' on Vikings locker room

Wow, did you miss the player interviews about Moss? Guess not, not many had anything good to say about his personallity. The good marks he had, were by players who did not want thier name thrown under the bus. I dont want ANY player who wont go after ANY catch let alone 4 potential TD's. I loved Moss, then hated, then gave him another chance, but still the same if not worse attitude and bad seed.

I agree with most of your comment but because he is loved by his fellow players he can still be a problem for the staff.  I wonder in 10-20 yrs is Moss going to look back with regret on how he played.  I dont even care what he thinks about how he treated people.  But I wonder if he wil regret that he could have destroyed all the records and probably have a ring or two if he would have played full time.  Randy Moss' style of play is like regular season NBA play.  uninspired.  Randy never loved football plain and simple.
