Childress: Moss 'vomited' on Vikings locker room

It’s the best quote from former Vikings coach Brad Childress that you’ll probably ever see. But hey, WR Randy Moss -- supposedly retired these days -- brings out the best in just about everybody, even the coach who he sorta, kinda helped get fired.

While talking to NFL.com about Moss, who was handed to the Vikings last season after the Patriots decided they didn’t need him anymore, Childress said this about his former WR: "We had good guys, by and large [but Moss] walked in the locker room and vomited on it."

Yikes, right?

Childress went on to say that perhaps he should have consulted owner Zygi Wilf before deciding to cut Moss, and that didn’t help his standing with the person who had the power to fire him (it also didn’t help matter that Childress wasn’t exactly known as a people-person and that he had led the team to a 3-7 record when he was canned).

"I should have gone up the chain," Childress said.

Childress obviously had no idea the situation would become so bad, especially when he first talked to Moss about playing in Minnesota.

"He called me and said, 'I can't wait, I can't wait. I feel like I'm coming home again,'" Childress said.

Instead, Moss caught 13 passes in four games and helped get his coach fired before he ended up as an irrelevant bench player in Tennessee. Now, both are out of work, and their return as a viable player and as a future NFL head coach is questionable.

Childress: Moss 'vomited' on Vikings locker room

Brad Childress and Terrell Owens are bullies who have to put people down in order to look good. Guys, I'm sure you remember when TO said that McNabb threw up in the Super Bowl because he was a coward or was nervous.

He "vomited" ON the Vikings lockers room??? How did he get up there, with a ladder??? And ol`baldy wonders why he lost the head coacing job up there in Minnesota... Seems he`s as bright as a burnt out light bulb, with a statement like that.

Unfortunately for the Vikings the season was lost before they acquired Moss.  The vomit was already there - Moss jsut made it more noticable.

Who did he think he was bringing in? The guy admits to playing when he feels like it. Childress should shut his mouth, he let two players favre and moss dictate policy which means he's not head coach material. Real simple

While I believe it's always best to take the high road when asked to give what is obviously a negative opinion about an employee, former employee, or colleague, I don't think it was right for Childress to rear his ugly head.  It makes him look angry and cynical.  Although he may have been speaking from the heart and what he said is very true, he needed to show class and bury the hatchett.

Childress: Moss 'vomited' on Vikings locker room

...By your logic anyone who ever coached T.O. was bad...some players are just jerks...we all know Moss is one of them...This whole experience (having 3 teams give up on you in a single season) SHOULD be humbling...And if he plans on making a comeback it would serve him best to get his head on staright shut up and play (which he did for a little while with the Pats...but then started feeling himself again)...But its Randy Moss...The simple fact that he talked his way off of one of the best team since the turn of the century says enough...Do us a favor Randy: Stay retired...you might make the Hall...

Childress was such a bad coach it wasn't even funny. He never seemed to have a handle on any difficult situation on or off the field. So when some adversity hit him early in the season he didn't want to deal with it, so instead he just cuts Moss. Did he not understand who he was getting in the first place? You have to be ready to deal with other factors with him and he clearly showed he wanted to just bury his head in the sand rather than act like a head coach.
