Aaron Maybin was waived by the Buffalo Bills on Monday afternoon, the team announced. Maybin was taken with the 11th overall pick in the 2009 draft. And if there was ever any debate about him being a tremendous bust, well, that debate is over right now, regardless of what happens the rest of his career.

Also Google, would like to weigh in, before we continue with said debate:

And, as we know, Google doesn't lie.

Neither do the stats -- in two years with Buffalo, the Penn State product has recorded exactly zero sacks, one forced fumble and logged 15 tackles in 27 games.

Bills Preseason

That Maybin was let go now is actually a good thing, though. Buffalo is acknowledging a clear-cut indication to move forward with the franchise and not dwell on past (although not-too-distant) mistakes.

Maybin's been completely embarrassing as a football player thus far in his career, but that doesn't mean he won't latch on somewhere.

As we've seen with Vernon Gholston -- and many others before him -- there's ample availability for second chances in the NFL.

Just for fun, here's the next ten players that were taken after the Bills nabbed Maybin: Knowshon Moreno, Brian Orakpo, Malcolm Jenkins, Brian Cushing, Larry English, Josh Freeman, Robert Ayers, Jeremy Maclin, Brandon Pettigrew and Alex Mack.

well there was on lb that was taken after him from USC that is having a hall of fame caree right know here in Green Bay plus a DT that take before Maybin from BC that should be an all star but does not get any credit.  So it comes down to how you draft players plus how there are coached and if they fit the system being ran at that time. Some teams never get it some do and some like the Eagles thinks signing all the best free agents is the best way.  So the biggest thing is the GM and coach are on the same page.

Aaron Maybin was DE at PSU and he was undersized and young for the NFL.  The Bills just drafted him way too early.

I think the Bills management got a bit excited over Shane Conlan in the 90s. Penn State linebackers have blown for Buffalo since. Paul couldn't cover the pass when not injured and Maybin fizzled. I agree, take a LB from Wisconsin or, uhhhhh, Ohio State.

Posluzny had 151 tackles last year, 3 straight years of over 100 tackles and Jacksonville signed him to a 6 year free agent contract.  Your calling that a wash out?

To be fair, all college football programs have their busts in the NFL...who is your college team?  Bet I can come up with some failures.

Thats why you should never get a linebacker in the first round of a draft they more likely for a bust.

Well said Jeff...and it was the media that ran Polian out of town because he was grumpy and didn't cooperate with interviews.

Maybin botched pick, but Dareus great pick!

ROLL TIDE ROLL!  Marcel Dareus will be a beast in Buffalo.  Good luck to him and the Bills as he is a hell of a player and should stabilize the run D.  I think he'll be a pretty good pro.

Defensive linemen out of the SEC have a pretty good track record!

I don't blame the was an honest mistake, but if anyone paid any attention they would have surmised that the name "Aaron Maybin" does not sound like a future star. Which leads me to say this...Nick Fairley...will be another Maybin.......and I am not saying this because he plays for the Lions.
