Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

For his helmet-popping hit on Bengals QB Andy Dalton in the Lions first preseason game, Lions DT Ndamukong Suh has been fined $20,000. We think.

There’s been no official confirmation by the NFL, but judging by Suh’s Twitter update, it seems to be so.

Quoth the Suh: $20,000REALLY???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #NFL #BIGFAIL"

Though the hit didn’t appear dirty, the league will almost always come down on the side of protecting the quarterbacks, and since Suh has built a nice little history of playing not-nice with the league’s QBs, the fine isn’t a surprise. Maybe he hasn’t crossed a line yet, but he’s getting ever so much closer.

And his wallet is getting lighter.

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

I have also looked at the video several times. I do agree with the PF 15yd penalty. The toss to the ground may have been a little excessive. However, if you look for that split second, you see Dalton's head around another Detroit defender that was there. When Dalton lowered his head to try and get out of it, his helmet come off which was right before Suh tossed him down.

You, sir, are just pissed off because you are a bears fan and don't want to see great plays from other teams in the division. You must of thought the whole play was bad last year in the 2nd game between Det and GB when the Lions defense gave Rodgers the concussion and was out for a couple of games??? What are you going to do....fine the whole team....don't think so. Let the good plays go on and get over it.

QBs should not recieve special treatment. They know what they are getting into when they decided to play football in the first place. They know the risks involved. A hard(er) hit like that normally doesn't happen in the realm of playing a game, however, these QBs need to man-up. If they are afraid of some hits, they don't need to be in there. And...before you can come back with a dumb ass response.....if it was a QB for the Lions...I would feel the same way. As true fans of the game...we do not want to see anybody get seriously hurt. However, if there was a hard shot like that to Stafford or Hill, I would say either man-up and get up and go to the next play or get on the sideline and let someone else play. The Lions are my team, but in this debate, I am not biased. I would want my QB to man up too. As do you.

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

The man makes millions bro.  That would be like me taking a pebble out of a box full of rocks, and saying the box is now lighter.  While true, its not that big of a deal to his pockets.

The first thing Suh did after he got drafted was make a commitment to donate 2.6 million dollars to the school he went to, Nebraska.  The NFL could fine sue not 20 thousand, but 40 thousand dollars PER GAME for 640 thousand dollars per season and it won't affect his life at all. He signed a 5 year 60 million dollar deal and he's guaranteed 40 million no matter what happens.  He's not getting cut so he's going to gross 60 million dollars.  Even if he takes home 35 million after tax, do the math people.  Money doesn't matter at all.  And that's only 5 years of income... if he keeps playing like this for another 4 seasons ( and he will unless he gets seriously injured) his second contract will make the first one look like nothing.  Remember that Haynesworth crazy deal?  Add a little to that number and that's where he's going to be at.  And that doesn't count endorsements.  He's a very intelligent guy, a nice guy, well spoken and loved by fans everywhere.  He'll probably make 20 or 30 million dollars in endorsements in his career without even trying, more if he really wants to go after it.  Suh isn't mad because of the 20 thousand dollars regardless of what he says.  He's mad the league is trying to force him to change his game... and guess what?  He'll never change how he plays....

That way Ndamukong could have wrote "I'm glad I could help those people ... as I was squishing that poor fools head in."
Better yet ... The Ndamukong Suh - I sent you into early retirement home for wrecked O lineman! (sorry for quoting myself ... such bad taste)

You know what's really cool about all of this? When was the last time The Detroit Lions had a 15 page thread on CBS?

I'm so fed up with this crap.  I just started a group called F.I.S.T.S.  It stands for Fans In Support of Toughness in Sport
LOL ... what a great idea man. We should start a "double the fine" fund that not only pays the fine but also contributes an equal amount to a charity. That way Ndamukong could have wrote "I'm glad I could help those people ... as I was squishing that poor fools head in."
