Terrelle Pryor to play QB in final preseason game

It feels like we've written about Terrelle Pryor a million times since he decided to bolt Ohio State and head to the NFL. (The actual answer is 62. So there's that.)

Perhaps that's because of his up-and-down status for the NFL's supplemental draft. Or perhaps that's because he's such a talented player who presents tons of upside but remains an enigma, particularly with respect to what position he'll play as a professional.

Whatever, for those that want to see Pryor as a quarterback, you're in luck -- Raiders head coach Hue Jackson told Michelle Tafoya of NBC on Sunday night that Pryor, who didn't play in the third preseason game against New Orleans, will begin his career with Oakland as a quarterback.

"We're gonna start there first and see where we go," Jackson said.

Pryor, who recently signed a four-year deal with Oakland, did some warm-ups under center and was briefly in the silver-and-black uniform and on the sidelines during Sunday's game, but eventually left.

Tafoya also reported that Pryor would be available for the Raiders final preseason game against the Seahawks.

This makes a lot of sense, actually, because you don't see starters get a ton of time during the final exhibition affair, and Pryor will be missing the first five games of the regular season; getting him out there and giving him some run under center won't put anything at risk and it'll at least the Raiders see what Pryor can do in live NFL action.

And since this is the Raiders we're talking about, it wouldn't be shocking to see them give Pryor plenty of run as a quarterback if he looks even remotely competent during the final week of the preseason.

TP will be fine, he will be away better than Cam Newton because he has played in a pro style offense as a QB, not that backyard type style. TP will not start over Campbell, but when Campbell moves on next season he will be the strating QB fulltime for the Raiders. I believe his career will be like this:

3200 plus yards per year passing, avg. 200 to 225 yards per game. 24TD's 12 int's.

800 yards per year rushing with that 4.36 speed, avg. 50 yards per game. 8 to 10 TD's on the ground.

4000+ yards of offense and 32+ TD's from any QB is great to have.

Whetsone42, you are right.  You are not racist, but very ignorant.

1. When was he is trouble in college?  He was never arrested and didn't get involved in illegal activities.  So he violated a minor ncaa rule of selling his own stuff.  That isn't an indicator of going to prison.  So he had a couple of speeding tickets.  You have probably gotten one too so you might be a candidate for prison in the future.

2.  When was he in trouble in high school?  Don't give me the "He was kicked out of Kennywood" crap.  Do you really know what happened?  I bet you don't.  Don't give me the "he fought another basketball team".  Again, I bet you have no clue what happened.  He kept decent grades in high school and wasn't getting in trouble with the law.

Your observations are only what you want to believe.

Terrelle Pryor to play QB in final preseason game

The Raiders are going to be the AFCW representative in the playoffs this year.  I am not sure whether Pryor will get the QB job or not, but I am leaning towards him having it by mid-season depending on his performance on Thursday (I hate preseason, but I will make an exception this once).

Right now this sounds crazy, but mark this post down and look at the end of the season.  The Raiders will surprise people.

Whetstone42, let me correct you.  He is no thug he's just an idiot like Cam Newton.  Idiots make mistakes, thugs kill people and steal things.   If Pryor is mentored correctly you won't hear of anything bad coming from him in the future, because he has someone there to help him from making stupid mistakes.

The  first time he gets poped by Ray Lewis, you will see him next on a forklift working in a warehouse.

Pryor is a thug and will be out of the league and probably prison within the year.  He was trouble in high school, trouble in college, and now he's gonig to be rich and in trouble...  This is not racist, this is a observation of his behavior over the last 7 years.

Terrelle Pryor to play QB in final preseason game

smitstyles, don't think for a minute Ohio State alumni or fans want to see Pryor fail.  I am alum and love my Buckeyes and Terrelle was a great part of the team's success.  He was young and dumb and made some mistakes but find me one person who has not been young and dumb and I will call you a liar.

Terrelle should play QB.  He is very talented and he is a very hard worker.  He made tremendous improvements from his freshman to sophomore season and than again from his sophomore to his junior year at OSU.  I expect him to continue to improve into the NFL.  If anything I want to see TP lead the Raiders to the playoffs and I am not a Raider fan at all until now and that is because of TP and the team that took a chance on him.

Don't expect much from him this year but 2-3 years down the road he is going to be a feared QB in the NFL.
