Terrelle Pryor to play QB in final preseason game

It feels like we've written about Terrelle Pryor a million times since he decided to bolt Ohio State and head to the NFL. (The actual answer is 62. So there's that.)

Perhaps that's because of his up-and-down status for the NFL's supplemental draft. Or perhaps that's because he's such a talented player who presents tons of upside but remains an enigma, particularly with respect to what position he'll play as a professional.

Whatever, for those that want to see Pryor as a quarterback, you're in luck -- Raiders head coach Hue Jackson told Michelle Tafoya of NBC on Sunday night that Pryor, who didn't play in the third preseason game against New Orleans, will begin his career with Oakland as a quarterback.

"We're gonna start there first and see where we go," Jackson said.

Pryor, who recently signed a four-year deal with Oakland, did some warm-ups under center and was briefly in the silver-and-black uniform and on the sidelines during Sunday's game, but eventually left.

Tafoya also reported that Pryor would be available for the Raiders final preseason game against the Seahawks.

This makes a lot of sense, actually, because you don't see starters get a ton of time during the final exhibition affair, and Pryor will be missing the first five games of the regular season; getting him out there and giving him some run under center won't put anything at risk and it'll at least the Raiders see what Pryor can do in live NFL action.

And since this is the Raiders we're talking about, it wouldn't be shocking to see them give Pryor plenty of run as a quarterback if he looks even remotely competent during the final week of the preseason.

A wasted third round pick from a team that is kind of on the rise.  I'm not saying he has no chance, but a third rounder?  There is a lot of value from a third round pick that could have been used elsewhere.  He could turn out to be a good receiver, but most QB's are stubborn in the changing of positions.  We will see what happens.  It is good to see the NFL hold up the 5 game ban that the NCAA gave him.  Don't want the NFL to be a free pass for those who screw up in the college ranks.  You must serve your time before you move on!

personally, i hope he starts the regular season for the raiders; because this guy needs a beatdown and a reality check. he doesn't grasp general ideas that most human beings understand (cheating), and he sure as hell is cocky for what will most likely end up being a short and poor nfl career. just so ya know pryor, karmas a biznatch, and she's about to give ya a nice spanking- good riddance

Thankfully the NFL is stopping Pryor from playing or practicing for the first 5 weeks, seems like fair punishment for selling your own stuff for tats (while in college), but wait, what punishment did Britt get.........Zero games............Talib?............Zero games.  HMMMMM, is Goddell a Michigan man?  lol, nice statement NFL

The sooner he falls on his face, the sooner he can go about the business of being an all-pro NFL TE.

Terrelle Pryor to play QB in final preseason game

Maybe someone can expalin this to me. Obviously there has been limited practice time with the team so learning the NFL Raider playbook might only be accomplished by a wizard known as Harry Potter not Terrelle Pryor. I just don't think he's quite up to being a "Seeker" just yet.

Now, once the season starts, from my understanding, he will not be allowed to practice with the team nor play in any of the first 5 regular season games. That's five weeks .... gone. At least he can study the playbook. So, in the final pre-season game, if we know from experience that the starting players will have limited playing time for two reasons: 1. To keep any key players from getting injured before the regular season begins and 2. To see who will be kept on your active roster, what can you expect to see out of such limited play? Won't this hurt some players trying to make the team forcing them to work with such a novice or have the players already been picked? Then to hell with them, right?

getting him out there and giving him some run under center won't put anything at risk and it'll at least the Raiders see what Pryor can do in live NFL action.

Hmmmmm. So you say.
