Report: Bears cut RB Chester Taylor

On Sunday we mentioned that both running back Chester Taylor and linebacker Lance Briggs were unhappy with their situation on the Bears. Taylor wanted more playing time and Briggs wanted more money.

Taylor is not going to get what he wants -- or at least not get it with the Bears anyway, as it appears the backup-to-the-backup running back will be cut before teams are required to get down to 80-man rosters by Tuesday (follow the latest updates and cuts here).

That's according to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times, who says the Bears have already informed Taylor of his release.

Taylor signed a four-year, $12 million contract before the 2010 season (he was the other "big" free-agent signing to go with defensive end Julius Peppers), but was unproductive with Chicago last season, rushing for 267 yards on 112 attempts (2.4 yards per carry) over the course of 16 games. Though, in fairness, the rushing attack out of Chicago wasn't exactly potent last season.

The Bears made their "splash" this offseason by bringing in former Cowboy Marion Barber, and given that Taylor remains behind Matt Forte, Barber and, apparently, Khalil Bell on the depth chart, it shouldn't be surprising that Taylor's being given his pink slip.

So maybe he will get what he wants ... just with another team.

Come on people. This has changed hugely from the shady dealing with Sky into an abuse of our human rights. We live in a democracy - the BBC is a public service broadcaster paid for by our licence fee and yet they are systematically shutting down every organ of comment that we have at the moment to voice our displeasure at their deal with Sky. This is not democracy this is totalitarianism within the one broadcasting medium we should be able to control.

This is not surprising, in the least.  And neither is Roy Williams' inability to hold onto the football, thus far.  OH HEY LOOK! The Bears are gettin' off the bus running, again!!  Oh ok, let's just stack the line and send a blitz on every single play!  DBs, just stay generally close to the receivers and they'll drop the ball.  Don't worry about them.  Just make sure you tackle Forte, Barber, or Bell if given the ball.  BOOM. No X's, no O's.  Gameplan of every single coach facing the Bears this year.

And yes, I'm a Bears Fan.

Good and Bad News for the Bears and their fans: Good news is that apparently Marion Barber's injury is not considered serious, or they wouldn't let Taylor go so quickly. Also, this is a good sign that the coaching staff is finally noticing that Khalil Bell is bringing it! Bell's moves and burst to the hole make him the counter-back to Matt Forte that Chester Taylor was hoped to be by Gerry Angelo. Speaking of whom, the bad news is this guy just chucked a whole bunch of dough down the drain with most of the $12 Million getting paid in first year bonus money. More wasted cap money and more poor talent evaluation.
