NFL fans and the media have a weird obsession with the Wonderlic, the intelligence test given to prospective professional football players. Most folks care way too much about the test, when there's no guarantee that Wonderlic success will relate to NFL success.

But whenever someone puts a ridiculously low (or high) score out there, it usually warrants some discussion. Like Terrelle Pryor's reported score of seven.

Yes, seven.

That's according to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, who set Twitter on fire when he reported the score and pointed to it as the reason "why Terrelle Pryor made so many on-, off-field bad decisions at Ohio State."

Such an assumption seems a bit presumptuous, especially since the Wonderlic isn't scientifically indicative of how much merchandise someone will give away for free tattoos. (The jury's still out on that one.)

But if Pryor indeed scored a seven, it's a bit embarrassing. Vince Young once posted a six on his Wonderlic (reportedly) and he did, um, just fine.

Additionally, it's believed that an average score for a quarterback on the Wonderlic is about a 24, and teams would prefer a 21. But plenty of successful quarterbacks -- ahem, Dan Marino -- have posted lower scores than that.

Plus, as we all know, Pryor is a wide receiver.

And besides, as long as he's not scoring the exact number that JaMarcus Russell scored, the Raiders are probably thrilled.

Sometimes a 7 is good and sometimes it's just craps.

U can still be a dumbass and play football! It doesn't help your chances but its possible. If u go online and take the test its mostly math and english questions and im sure Pryor didn't take either at OSU. He could still excel without knowing how to read or write. He may not be able to count how many players are on the field but he should still be able to pass and run. non story

Oh so let's see Bob McGinn tweeted that Pryor scored a 7 and that's the reason "why Terrelle Pryor made so many on-, off-field bad decisions at Ohio State."  Where did McGinn go to school?  Michigan.  Now what did Pryor actually score? Well according to Steelers GM Kevin Colbert who actually administered the test Pryor's score was much higher then the reported 7.  The actual test score.....22.  I wonder why McGinn would make up such complete BS.....could it be he was sick of the beatings his former school took every year from Ohio State and Pryor?  Way to fact check CBS....journalism at it's finest!  Bob McGinn is a complete a$$ clown and should be ashamed for spreading lies to try to make his former schools biggest rival look bad....if you can't beat em'....slander em'!

Is there a way to see if Terrell can take this exam in Spanish.  I'm just saying.  He was probably nervous or having a bad day.  Let's give him a chance and see what he is capable of.  Now, if he is another Jamarcus Russell (biggest bust in Raider Nation history) then enough said.  And he wants to pull that stunt like "Holding out for bigger $$$$" like Jamarcus Russell again, then let him go Mr. Al Davis.

"Additionally, it's believed that an average score for a quarterback on the Wonderlic is about a 24, and teams would prefer a 21."

So does this mean that the NFL does not want their QB's too smart for fear that they will realize that they should be calling all the plays and running the entire offense?
The Wonderlic score is not a true measure of a QB's success. Many really book smart athletes have failed miserably in the NBA and NFL. Besides, the questions asked on the test is in no way related to how one deals with a 6 man blitz while trying to find an open receiver.

A 7? With a score that low, its a wonder he can operate a belt buckle.
