Cedric Benson released from jail early

Bengals running back Cedric Benson surprisingly has been released … from jail.

That’s the word from Benson’s attorney Sam Bassett, via the Cincinnati Enquirer, who sent out a statement acknowledging that Benson has successfully served his time and now gets to move on with his life and his career.

From Bassett’s statement: “Mr. Benson was released from jail today, having served his sentence. Mr. Benson was credited for his full jail sentence pursuant to policies which apply to every inmate sentenced for a misdemeanor. He worked while in the jail, mopping floors and assisting the paint crews. He received additional credit because of this work. Every inmate in his circumstance is treated the same for purposes of calculating jail time credit. He looks forward to getting back to work and having a good season.”

You’ll recall that Benson was sentenced to 20 days in jail after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge. Originally, Benson had agreed to serve his sentence during the Bengals bye week, and it was assumed he would serve less time due to good behavior. While that’s true, he also got credit for working in the jail.

That's EXACTLY what I thought of those guys.  Especially Elway.  I'd always hoped he never get a super bowl.  No respect for him or for players who sign multi-year contracts for the security and then hold out when they do well and "re-negotiate" their contract.  Just because you can get away with it doesn't make it moral...

All I know is that there are way too many other guys I'd rather leave incarcerated than CB. Time served, move on. Good luck.

So, a rap sheet of 4 bullet points.  Charged with boating drunk, aquitted by a grand jury. OK, 3 bullet points on his rap sheet. DWI. OK, those can be dangerous to the public. Of course you can have two drinks at the pizza shack and qualify for DWI if you drive 10 minutes later. Allegedly punching a bartender? He may or may not be guilty of that. Probably why he wasn't charged or convicted for asault at that time. Bodily harm to a family memeber? Pretty sure he is guilty of that, hence the jail time.

In total, this does not make him a thug.  Sounds more like a guy who is just not all that bright and shouldn't be drinking.

Look up "bad seed" in the dictionary and you'll see a mug shot of Cedric Benson.  I never liked this guy in college nor in the NFL.  I won't forget his WHINING and POUTY face when he was drafted in the 1st round by Chicago.  I was yelling at TV, MAN UP you loser.  You were just drafted in the 1st round by an NFL team, seriously, you are going to complain?  Waste of talent....
I hope you thought the same exact thing when Manning was drafted by the Chargers and Elway by the Colts.
