NFL teams reduced their rosters to 53 players Saturday night, but that's just the beginning of the roster-assembly process. Some newly unemployed big-name free agents weren't out of work long, and teams in need of depth meant that other mid-level players found homes quickly, too. And then there are the practice squads.

Luckily, we got you covered here at the Eye on Football blog where, to quote Banky Edwards, we're like CNN and the Weather Channel: providing constant updates.

Maybe Whis knows that there has been a Steeler former or cuurent in 26 of the last 30 (22 of the last 30 SB winners had a Steeler on the roster at some point during the season) and he just wants to make sure he has one.

True, Ray Horton did work with Butler for a year but I guess you can say even Horton is an example of Whis cherrypicking because he really has no business of being a DC as he was almost fired after 2009.

The Jets are a place for players to resurrect their careers?! Who? Edwards? Nope. Farve? Nope. Tomlison? Nope. Who went to the Jets and resurrected their career?

i think that the jets may have a poor mans randy moss if they can turn mardy gilyard's size and athleticism into bigtime plays on the field. at cincinatti this guy was electrifying and nearly impossible for defenses to stop. the jets seem to be the place for players to ressurrect their careers and if gilyard can turn things around from his rookie season last year in st louis the jets may have another playamker at wideout

Got nothing against the Cardinals, just that i expect that Crezdon Butler to make the team and not be cut and be picked up by another team. But really before he was signed never thought he can land with the Cardinals as the secondary is one of the stongest position on their defense. I know there are a few injuries but still think they have the better secondary in the NFL. So i just stated the obvious that they get players from the Steelers more often than not. Hope i don't offend anyone.
