Antrel Rolle thinks Giants beat 'Skins 95 times out of 100. (US PRESSWIRE)
Posted by Ryan Wilson

Silver lining for Giants fans: according to safety Antrel Rolle, if New York played Washington 100 times, they'd win 95 of them. Dark cloud: Sunday's 28-14 no-show performance included one of the five losses. Appearing on WFAN 660 Tuesday, Rolle offered up his analysis when asked what coach Tom Coughlin's message was to the team following their impotent effort against the Redskins.

“His message was something that I think that we all understand," Rolle said, according to "His message was definitely something that we all understand, something that we all can relate to. We as a team and as an organization, we know that the Washington Redskins is not a better than us. We know that hands down. If we played them 100 times, they might win five.

“And they won that day. And it never leaves a good taste in your mouth when you lose to an opponent that you know you’re better than. And we understood where things went wrong. I don’t think we played a good game at all as a team. I don’t think that we played good on special teams, on defense or on offense.”

We don't have any problem with Rolle's comments -- he should think the Giants are better than their opponent even if it's not true. And let's be honest, even with a boatload of injuries, New York was facing Rex Grossman. As a defense, you always have a chance for a big play if Grossman's under center. At least that used to be the case. Grossman's looked like Good Rex for much of the preseason and he was efficient and accurate against the Giants Sunday. The fear, of course, is that Bad Rex can take over Grossman's body without much warning and a perfectly good outing can quickly turn into a four-interception afternoon.

Even Rolle, perhaps grudgingly, acknowledged that Good Rex showed up in Week 1.

“He moved around the pocket pretty well. Rex looked very comfortable in the offense that he was running. Do I think that’s going to be the case next time around? Absolutely not. But on that given day, they were the better team. There’s nothing else you can say about it.”

And then Rolle went on to say more, conceding that losing key players to injuries certainly didn't help the Giants' chances.

“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t. We understand the caliber of guys that we lost. That goes first and foremost. But at the same time, the game still has to be played. We’re still going out there to complete. We’re still going out there to try to get a win. I don’t care if it’s the six-stringer in there or it’s the All-Pro in there, I expect the game to be played at the end of the day. … We don’t hold pity on ourselves because no one else is going to."

For now, the Giants are 0-1 against Good Rex. Next up: the St. Louis Rams, another team hit hard by injuries.

Uh Bucket, "we" aren't overrated b/c I don't play for the Giants, and you don't play for the Skins either btw.  Nevertheless, I can see from your third grade response you have little to say other than to capitalize playground material.  All I have to say is, you're lucky this is a "strike year" b/c that is pretty much the only time your frnachise steps up.  Having said that, I'll state the obvious - you STILL have NO CHANCE to win the SB this year - 19th year in a row for that sh-t!!  Have fun being an also ran AGAIN!

Captial-laiden bitterness from Bucket - act like you've seen a regular season win already!  All that venom couldn't be rooted in watching NY b-tch slap your team for at least the last five years could it?!  lol

Hey congrats Bucket, your sorry -ss team FINALLY beat the NYG!! Yey! First time at FedEx since '06 and only the second time in the last ELEVEN GAMES!  Odds were that eventually you were going to beat NY, and you finally did when they were ravaged by injuries and in the first game of the year following a lockout.  And regardless of the state of the Giants (I have realistic expectations for them), at least I'm not dillusional like many a Skins fan thinking that win was proof that WASH was going to vy for the NFC East title this year.  AND, based on your capital letter-laiden rant, it is clear that the beatings you've been subject to watching NY give WASH over at least the last five years have made you SUCH a bitter baby!  Take it easy already and act like you've seen a regular season win already!

Also Keagy, I LOVE the way you just say something like "the Giants are getting old and beginning to show signs with the rash of injuries" as if you have ANY CLUE what you're talking about.  A classic case of I'll just say it because it seems to me to be the case so it must be true, so I'll say it as if it is the case and as if I know what I'm talking about.  Well, I'm sorry Keagy, facts just happen to get in your way.  Last year the Redskins were the OLDEST team in the NFL and there were only 7 of 32 teams younger than the NYG!  Now Wash HAS gotten younger, but not THAT much younger!!  AND, more to the point, NY "showing signs" of the supposed age problem which doesn't exist because of the "rash of injuries" is not true either!  While Tuck and Umi ARE not "old" but older, the rest of NY's injuries are the following ... MLB Goff in his 4th year, CB Thomas (4th year) [all starters by the way], CB Brian Witherspoon (3rd year), CB Jackson (2nd year),  WR Barden (3rd year), OL Koets (5th year), CB Amakamura [first round pick], Austin [second round pick].  SO, as you can see, these rash of injuries you attribute to agin are ALMOST ALL YOUNG GUYS, including their TOP TWO draft picks!  I was unable to find anything for 2011 showing the average age rankings for their respective rosters, but i DOUBT highly NYG went from one of the youngest teams in the NFL to one of the oldest.  And BTW, the guy that dominated your O-line all day Sunday (Pierre-Paul) is in his second season!
