Palmer working out with Housh, staying 'ready'

Despite the Bengals wealth of success so far in 2011 -- Andy Dalton looks good, Bruce Gradkowski's heaving touchdown passes to A.J. Green on random trick plays, you know, the usual -- the whole "What is Carson Palmer doing?" question still lingers given how much the retired quarterback might fetch on the trade market.

Well, here's an answer: he's staying in shape by working out with T.J. Houshmandzadeh and, according to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, "has not closed the door on playing football."

Oh, and hanging out on USC campus, drinking beer (note the special edition red Bud Light can he's rocking, plus camo koozie) and watching football, according to a fella named "USC Psycho" who took a picture of Palmer kicking it at a Trojans tailgate on Saturday and posted it on Twitter.

Palmer, as you probably know, threatened to retire if the Bengals didn't trade him. Per LaCanfora, there were teams interested -- the Seahawks, the 49ers and the Dolphins, specifically -- approached the Bengals about Palmer's availability.

But Brown wouldn't budget, refused to trade Palmer, and now Carson's retired. As LaCanfora writes, in the event that Brown has "a change of heart" before the trade deadline, "Palmer will be ready."

That's pretty unlikely, given how Brown's handled the situation thus far. On the bright side, Palmer's life can't be all that horrible right now either.

I guess they are ready to be unhappy on another team. Not sure either one is worth much, but Housh would be playing if he was.

Yes, Mike Brown is not a very good GM/Owner/King, but he did this same thing a few years ago with Chad. Chad decided to play out his contract and ultimately got what he wanted. Palmer says he has $80M in the bank and doesn't need this. Brown decided that he won't let players tell him how to run the team. Right or wrong, Brown is consistant.

Based on Palmer's last 2 seasons (don't forget Benson ran them into the division title 2 years ago) I don't think Palmer is better than Cassel or Collins.

What a schmuck...grow up you spoiled brat and report happily to the Bengals.  You are under contract, you have a job to do, DO IT.  Quit crying and deal with parts of you job you don't like just as every other human in the world does.  What a douche!

What are they staying ready for???  A senior flag football league at the local YMCA?  They`d be better off trying out for dancing with the stars, Housh could wear the skirt just like in his playing days.  Fcae the fact rich boys, the Bungles are the smae without you and just don`t care. Enjoy "retirement", party at USC!  Very cute Carson, Matt Leinert thinks your a few babes short of how he rolls though.

I am sure Palmer would go for at leaset a 2nd round in a trade.   Would not be surprised to see a first round from one or two fo thew teams out there that are looking like they will not be getting a shot at a good QB any other way.     Brown should look at what he can do for the Bengals and not what he can take away from Palmer.

Nothing like letting emotions get in front of business. Brown could land the Bengals a 2nd round ( maybe even a 1st if they find the right sucker) draft pick and improve his team. Palmer looked like his best days were behind him the last couple of seasons anyway. So instead of adding a quallity pick for an old QB he elects to hold a grudge. Way to do business.
