Jamaal Charles carted off with left-leg injury

A bad season for the Kansas City Chiefs got much worse very quickly on Sunday, as star running back Jamaal Charles was carted off from the field in the first quarter of the game in Detroit with a left-leg injury.

Charles lost control going out of bounds, took a bad step and wobbled on his leg before landing on the Lions mascot.

The Chiefs announced that his return is questionable.

Also questionable? The Chiefs chances of succeeding in what already appears to be a snakebitten season. They've lost tight end Tony Moeaki and safety Eric Berry for the season, and if the Charles injury is serious, an offense that hasn't really been able to get rolling is going to struggle even further.

It's probably also worth noting that the Chiefs did their best to hand the Lions an early score on Sunday with some penalties, and even though they picked Matthew Stafford early, they gave the ball back on a fumble in that same play. It's quite the cluster for Todd Haley's squad.

The potential for a serious injury to Charles is the most devastating blow yet, though. Despite the frustrating lack of carries, he's what makes the KC offense go, and without him, it's quite possible that KC could be stuck in reverse all season.

As a Chiefs fan I can only think of two things...how bad I feel for the young talents who won't be making the highlight reels this year, and "Maybe we'll score Luck in the draft!"

Forget the 1985 Browns that went 8-8. Forget the 2008 Dolphins that went 11-5. Forget the 2010 Seahawks that went 7-9.

The 2010 Chiefs are the WORST Division Champs of ALL TIME. ALL TIME. Despite going 2-4 in their own division last year, they still won it. However, the sign of things to come were evident when San Diego, Oakland and Baltimore embarrassed them.

I knew going into this year, the KC Frauds would be exposed. I was thinking maybe 5-11 or 6-10. Heck. I overestimated them. Cassel was a product of NE's system and it's showing. He had a fluke stretch last year of beating up nonplayoff teams (excluding teams in their own division). Mike Vrabel saw the writing on the wall. He knew this team stunk so he retired. Todd Haley is a fraud. Daddy's nepotism got his foot in the NFL door despite being a college golfer.

Still no playoff wins since 1993 KC. Only Detroit (1991) has gone longer without a playoff win. I promise you Detroit will get one before you frauds do. You were a DISGRACE to a storied AFC WEST Division last year. Your coach Todd Haley is a DISGRACE to Stram and even Schottenheimer. Absolutely nothing endearing about Haley and your team.

well looks like Andrew Luck will be a Chief next year.  Hopefully Marty Schottenheimer goes back to KC and wins his superbowl with Luck.

What else can happen to The Chiefs?  If Charles is out for the season The Chiefs and Colts will be fighting for the most talented 0-16 teams in The NFL.  The Chiefs anemic offense has alreday lost Tight End Moeaki.  I thought that they were going to win 9 games this year, they might not win any.

As I watch this season crumbed before my eyes, I wonder now what for us.  We look dead out there and I think Haley is dust in the wind.  Oh well, last year was great, this year do we need a little Luck for next year?
