Michael Vick injury is hand contusion, not break

Well, here's something new: Michael Vick's broken right hand isn't actually broken and instead a misread X-ray. Also new: something is going OK for the Eagles.

Yesterday, we wrote that Vick left the game against New York with a broken hand. What actually happened, according to Andy Reid at his press conference Monday afternoon, is that a swollen blood vessel was sitting on top of the hand bone and made it appear as if Vick suffered a fracture.

"Blood vessel sitting over the bone, made it look like there's a fracture," Reid said.

That's why the Eagles believed Vick broke his hand, although there's no real explanation for where the report on Monday morning about Vick missing three to four weeks with a broken hand came from.

It's tremendous news for Philadelphia, because it means that Vick, despite suffering a concussion in Week 2, should be OK to return as soon as this week, though it's possible that the contusion causes him to miss time if the swelling in his hand doesn't subside.

But as Clark Judge pointed out on Sunday night, losing Vick is the least of Philly's problems. They have a nightmare in terms of offensive line issues, and it's become quite obvious that all the free-agent signings in the world can't mask the defensive problems they have at linebacker and safety.

Also not helping? The Eagles upcoming three-game stretch -- versus the 49ers, at the Bills and at the Redskins -- went from "cakewalk" to "toughest stretch of their season" faster than Philly's offensive line can give up a quarterback pressure.

Thanks, dubdiggler, I didn't see your post before I made my last one.  I actually won't call him or his colleague morons, but I am amazed at how many of them seem to be so happy Vick got hurt--and are so chagrined that his hand's not broken.

I will certainly look forward to the rematch with the Giants on Nov. 20--and Vick playing the whole game.

he can kill single handed, thats what he has done the last 2 weeks.TO HIS OWN TEAM.
If you mean that by getting concussed and having his hand injured killed his team the last two weeks, that may be partially true, considering that he and his team were leading when he left both games, I believe.  For the same reason, if you meant his play had killed them, then you're obviously wrong.  Hard to maintain you're killing your team when you helped them get the lead; it was their defense that killed them, not Vick (and maybe not even Vick's replacement).

Dont waste your time dude, this guy is obviously a moron. He is still pumped up after getting handed two straight victories. If I was a Giants fan I would atleast admit that they suck. I would probably defend Tom Brady too. Some people just got too much anger and time on their hands. Probably a product of getting dropped or drop kicked as an infant. Maybe it is really Eli Manning.

Mark Sanchez BROKE his nose yesterday finished the game and it WASNT front page news
in NY.
1977Yankees, do you mean that Sanchez is normally in the habit of using his nose to take the snap from center?  No?  Well, to break the news to you, some quarterbacks--would I be wrong in saying all?--do use their off-hand to help take the snap.  I suspect that Sanchez does, too.  So wait for him to break his hand or contuse the bone before telling me whether he'd continue to play with it--or telling me that Vick wouldn't play with a broken nose.  Talk about apples and oranges . . .

ARE U A RACIST IDIOT OR JUST AN IDIOT

I'd say neither, 1977Yankees.  Apparently you didn't read back for enough to see that what I originally wrote was a comment in defense of Vick's play in which I inadvertently typed his name with a "M" rather than a "V".  I then made another post to correct that, in which I made the fun remark that you curiously think was idiotic ("I suppose if Vick were Irish, he could have been 'Mick' as well, but let that go.")

If you really think any of that was either racist or idiotic rather than my poking fun at my own typo, you must either be idiotic yourself or else in an unusally bad mood.  I should think you'd be aware of a few things: (1) Vick's first name is Michael, for which "Mick" or "Mickey" is sometimes a nickname; (2) since you're apparently a Yankees' fan, you ought to know that a certain great outfielder from your team's past was often known affectionately as The Mick (and I'm not talking about Mickey Rivers), without most speakers necessarily knowing whether  he was Irish or not; (3) Vick presumably is not Irish. and I was the one defending him, not the Giant fan who was attacking him; (4) no, I don't normally use "mick" when referring to an Irishman.  In doing so in the above post, was just constructing a humorous hypothetical scenario in which my original mistake of calling Vick "Mick" might have been thought apt by some.

Way to man up Vick! Maybe you should worry more about toughing out an injury instead of whining about the refs. For crying out loud it wasn't even broke and it's not your throwing hand. You let your teammates down big time. You're not a leader and never will be.

I could care less if Vick gets hurt or not. I despise what he did with the dog thing. I just call a spade a spade jerk off. And the tuck rule....Brady. Cant touch a qb when you are on the ground at the knees......Brady. And the Giants, well, they suck. They are as bad as Elis acne. They looked real stupid falling on the ground with their fake injuries. They will never make the playoffs. And the Yankees will get their a$$ handed to them as well with one mediocre pitcher, fatso Cabathis, and a bullpen full of bums. How is that for dumb loser?

the giants won because they outplayed the eagles yesterday, get over it argo

When did I say otherwise?  I was just correcting your colleague's false insistence that the Giants were "kicking the Eagles' A$$" while Vick was in the game.  How do these urban legends get started?  This one was especially erroneous considering that (a) the Eagles were way ahead in time of possession during most if not all of the time Vick was in there, and (b) I believe the Eagles were leading when he left.  Do you dispute any of that?
