Michael Vick injury is hand contusion, not break

Well, here's something new: Michael Vick's broken right hand isn't actually broken and instead a misread X-ray. Also new: something is going OK for the Eagles.

Yesterday, we wrote that Vick left the game against New York with a broken hand. What actually happened, according to Andy Reid at his press conference Monday afternoon, is that a swollen blood vessel was sitting on top of the hand bone and made it appear as if Vick suffered a fracture.

"Blood vessel sitting over the bone, made it look like there's a fracture," Reid said.

That's why the Eagles believed Vick broke his hand, although there's no real explanation for where the report on Monday morning about Vick missing three to four weeks with a broken hand came from.

It's tremendous news for Philadelphia, because it means that Vick, despite suffering a concussion in Week 2, should be OK to return as soon as this week, though it's possible that the contusion causes him to miss time if the swelling in his hand doesn't subside.

But as Clark Judge pointed out on Sunday night, losing Vick is the least of Philly's problems. They have a nightmare in terms of offensive line issues, and it's become quite obvious that all the free-agent signings in the world can't mask the defensive problems they have at linebacker and safety.

Also not helping? The Eagles upcoming three-game stretch -- versus the 49ers, at the Bills and at the Redskins -- went from "cakewalk" to "toughest stretch of their season" faster than Philly's offensive line can give up a quarterback pressure.

How come when Vick leaves the game, the rest of the Eagles do too?Why did the the Eagles go out and get a #2 quarterback and continue to use a nobody,he comes into the game and boy there goes two interceptions.Maybe its time for Reid to retire as some of his calls are pretty stupid especialy at the one yard line. They dont trust Vick to run left or right?no they have to run the ball right up the middle where the Giants are waiting,I mean once is enough but to try three times. Is it any wonder why Vick gets hurt? They had better get him some protection,as the Eagles season is lost.

Someone give the Giants their due.  They outplayed the Birds.  Vick,  you hold on to the ball too long.  You are bound to get popped with a momentum hit.  Cutler gets hit more than anyone and he has a quick release even with not having the Desean and Jeremy.  Stop being whiners.  Everyone listens to WIP and goes over the shedule giving the W's, maybe an L and always expect the birds to go 15-1.  Grow up, be objective and suck up the fact that you are mediocre.

As an Eagles fan who bleeds green, you got to hand it to the Giants for winning yesterday.  Who by the way I thought stood absolutely NO chance at winning the game because they had so many injuries.  But they had a perfect game plan in place and not only that, they executed it as well.  Once again Andy Reid seemed to get outcoached again.  The Eagles had the lead, then for some reason he decides to go for it on 4th and 1 when he was only up 16-14.  Which is unbelievable, because 9 times outta 10 he doesn't run that play when he's up by 10 points or so.  The goal line calls run, run and lets see run, was not fooling anybody.

I've said it all along, that the Eagles with all these new players would take time to jell.  The linebackers are obviously the weak link here in the defense and the O line in the offense.  Unless something changes soon, it's going to be a long season for the birds and their fans.

come on argo...if you see it differently then you need to stop drinking the DREAM TEAM cool aid....the giants kicked vick and the iggles butts....
I never said anything about a dream team, crfunnies.  With our mediocre offensive line, linebackers, and safteties that would be silly.  But, for the umpteenth time, you did not "kick vick" to the tune of a 16-14 Eagles lead.  We outplayed you in the second and third quarters, and you outplayed us in the first and fourth quarters, in the latter taking proper advantage of an inexperienced and less-talented quarterback than our starter.  That's how it goes.
But why am I letting you change the subject on me?  We should all recognize that changing the subject is a sure sign you've run out of good arguments on the subject of the article and my original posts.

Argo...but he did go back into tyhe game after it happened and winced....with a contusion???...what a p#ssy!!!
How many contusions have you had, crfunnies?  Yes, he went back into the game notwithstanding his injury--glad you noticed that.  And he had to leave when the swelling made it too difficult to take the snap.  Pain, some people can ignore; swelling, not so much when it's likely to cause fumbles.
Any more silly arguments, crfunnies?  If not, I'll be off.

1960!!!! LMFAO!!!
And your point is what, crfunnies?  If you guys are to win the NFC East, ancient history like that isn't going to help you--as the last few years have shown.
