If there was a contest for the greatest Bengals fan of all time, you’d have to give some consideration to Saul Sholler.
The Cincinnati native died at the age of 95 on Sunday, and his obituary, quite simply, is awesome. In it, the author pens that Sholler was a Vitamin E enthusiast, taught himself to use a computer in his 80s (which he then used to teach himself to play bridge) and he listened to his favorite classical music on his iPad.
Hell, he even apparently could quote Shakespeare -- a fact his children didn’t learn until he was on his deathbed.
And then there was this, which I will copy and paste without comment:
“Accepting that the end was near, the funny grandfather and great-grandfather said earlier in the day there was an upside to death: at least he wouldn't have to watch another Bengals loss.”For more NFL news, rumors and analysis, follow @EyeOnNFL on Twitter and subscribe to our RSS Feed.
