Tebow is your new Broncos starting QB

It might have taken four and a half games into the regular season, but it looks like the Broncos coaching staff has finally fallen in line with its fans: Head coach John Fox named Tim Tebow the team's starting quarterback on Tuesday. And that's where we'll begin today's discussion with Pete Prisco, Mike Freeman, Josh Katzowitz, Will Brinson and Ryan Wilson. Fire away.

"Well, I think [the] 1-4 [record] has a lot to do with it," Fox said, according to the Associated Press. "We haven't gotten it done as a football team. It's not one guy. It's not all Kyle Orton's fault. But we do have to make adjustments, we have to change and we have to do something to win football games."

Tebow replaced Orton in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Chargers where he completed 4 of 10 throws for 79 yards, including a passing and a rushing touchdown, and the Broncos were a last-second completion in the end zone from beating their division rival. Orton, for his part, has played poorly enough to lose the job, although the organization decided not to trade him to the Dolphins prior to training camp because Tebow wasn't deemed to be ready for the full-time gig. Now, it seems, that has changed. (Maybe Fox was blown away by Tebow outperforming Aaron Rodgers in Week 5.)

It's go time. (US PRESSWIRE)

"He gave us a spark. That's Tim Tebow," running back Willis McGahee Sunday, via the Denver Post. "Everybody's been cheering for him for the longest, and now he finally got in and came in and moved the ball for us."

For his part, Orton has promised to support Tebow.

"I'm disappointed with everything," he said. "I wish I could have played better. I wish we had a better record. There's a lot of things, but reality is what it is."

More via the AP:
Orton, who's in the final year of his contract, is 6-21 since winning his first six games as Denver's starter. The Broncos tried to trade Orton, who's making $9 million this season, when the lockout ended, but talks with Miami broke down and Fox instead threw open the quarterback competition, something for which Tebow proved ill-prepared.

Stop...Tebow Time?
Orton had worked extensively with teammates in workouts organized by safety Brian Dawkins during the lockout. So had Tebow, but he also spent time pitching products and his autobiography across the country. Orton's and Brady Quinn's offseason workout program paid off when training camp rolled around.

Orton maintained his stranglehold on the starting job and Quinn appeared to win the backup job despite a poor performance in the final preseason game, but Fox said this week that wasn't really the case: Tebow was his No. 2. This despite Tebow showing almost no progress in becoming the pocket passer that Broncos football chief John Elway has said he must become to make it in this league.
After the bye, the Broncos head to Miami to face the Dolphins. It could be a homecoming for Tim Tebow, starting NFL quarterback, who made his name at the University of Florida.

It could also be an opportunity for the Broncos to hand-deliver Orton to the Dolphins, a team desperately in need of a starter after losing Chad Henne for the season.

Tebow is your new Broncos starting QB

Say I tell you about a first-round pick, Quarterback X (or Quarterback T, which is more apropos), who sat for the first 13 games of his rookie season, then saw action in the final three games of the year. In his first start, he throws for 138 yards and runs for 78. He accounts for two touchdowns and has a rating of 100.5. Then in his second start, he throws for 308, runs for 27 and again accounts for two touchdowns as his team goes on a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter to win. Then in his third start, he hits for 205 through the air, 94 on the ground and totals three touchdowns. We're talking about this guy like he's the new Shaq of the NFL. Except it's Tim Tebow, so no one gives him the credit he deserves and instead he sits on the bench, because your new head coach doesn't want to be told what to do, and pundits don't like to be told they're wrong.

This is a perfect way of saying Tebow is not as bad as everyone says except he Tebow so you hate him. Great article and the angle is perfect explanation of why he is so hated- Go Tebow

Aww quit yer whinin' ya plussies. At least you've won a game. Miami is 0-4. WTF is going on with my team?!? They are going down the toilet and everyone is staring out at the beach like a Cuban quarterback on a raft is gonna show up and save us in between Sunday naps spent at home instead of at the game. The owners play with the team like a rich brasshole tinkers with his Ferrari one day a week then hires someone else at a cut rate to come in and try to fix what they f'd up. They went after another coach last year while they still had Tony and didn't tell him anything about it, then, when they didn't get that coach, they did it to him again! Then they apologized and said Tony is our man, and now he's 0-4. How motivated do you think he is? He knows he's canned. The fact that the Dolphins were interested in Orton should tell you all you need to know about his talent and future. And as for the players, I'd trade Henne, Bush, and Marshall back too for Tebow and some extra practice helmets right now. At least he's something to watch, love him or hate him. So yea, it could be worse, be glad you have something and someone to be interested in and talking about and maybe looking forward to in the future. Right now the best thing about being a 'Fins fan is the ocean is really close if you feel like taking a long walk... Cool

In 5 years Tebow will be doing studio work for College Football on ESPN. Probably the most over rated and over hyped draft pick since Tony Mandarich. I feel sorry for Brady Quinn. He actually has the QB skills, not Tebow. What is Denver going to do when they start losing with Tebow at the helm?

Am I the only broncos fan that is still pissed that he was drafted way above what he should have been?

No you are not, and I thought it was the worst draft pick since Tommy Maddox to be honest with you (disregard he was a QB too when talking about draft picks).  Sure, Denver has made some bust draft picks, but IMHO Tebow is Maddox version 2.0.  At least you can use Tebow at other positions compared to Maddox.

You are one of the only guy that seems to agree with my feelings. Yes he a stand up guy but the wildcat offence is a thing of the past and is not what we need in Denver. I think Denver did him a favor by drafting him at all I don't think he would have been drafted until the 5 or 7 round other wise if drafted at all adn to think we gave up 4 picks to get him!!!! But I will root for the team no matter what thats what true fans do not cheer for someone else will he is playing as all the Tebow fans did to Orton even though none of the 3 QBs are any good for the team!!!!

Tebow is your new Broncos starting QB

Good luck to you Bronco fans. This is what you wanted, now you've got Tebow starting. I as a Raider fan look foward to a more exciting duel between our teams. I really think this move should have been made in the off season for you guys . I would have. Tebow played well at the end of last season, and should have been given the chance to start this season. I do believe that the broncos record would be better than it is now!

Am I the only broncos fan that is still pissed that he was drafted way above what he should have been?  I can not cheer for this guy because I still think it was an aweful draft pick.  I guess they have to give him a shot but he is not the answer and they need a new qb and to get rid of the 3 they have.  I hope he fails so they don't drag out his career as a qb in denver.  That being said he was an excellent college qb and a stand up guy.
