With Tuesday’s 4 p.m. trade deadline nearly upon us, it would seem that Browns running back Peyton Hillis would be a good candidate to be moved somewhere else. After he missed Week 4 with a supposed sickness -- his agent came out later and said otherwise -- he’s been a forgotten man the past couple weeks.

What's up with Hillis?

Then, he supposedly hurt his hamstring Sunday, but then went back into the game only to block. It’s as if the Madden cover boy is (gasp!) cursed.

Despite all the weirdness, Cleveland supposedly isn’t going to part ways with him. That’s what Pat Shurmur said today, claiming that Hillis was not on the Browns trading block.

"I don't want to talk about trades," Shurmur said. "I don't think that's something that you could ... no, he's not on the trading block."

Which would make sense if the Browns were using Hillis as a guy who rushed for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns. Except they’ve basically been using him as Montario Hardesty’s backup. And if that’s the case, they’re probably better off seeing what they can get for Hillis.

He's NOT on the trading block? And why not,may I ask? Now that I think about it,his value is so low right now due to the fact that he's nothing more than an unproductive warm body & it's so close to the trade deadline they couldn't possibly do better than a last round pick.Maybe if he's feeling up to playing between 1-4pm on Sundays to get on the field he can block for Montario Hardesty,who I don't know how much better he'll be.Maybe,just maybe if Hardesty is named the starter & Head Coach Pat Shurmur assures him the job's all his he might just put up an impressive performance.If Hillis is any indication,your mind has to be in the right place also.

You know everybody loved Hillis in Denver. I guess if you get voted onto the cover of Madden the country must have loved him to. Hillis choosing not to play because of contract issues does make him seem a bit like a malcontent more than a superstar. You do not pay whiners or complainers, you pay guys that show up every week and bust their ass. 1,177 yards and 11 tds is really good but not great. Hillis should of came out this year played like it was a contract year and if the Browns didn,t pay him someone else would have. Maybe Denver did know somthing the rest of us didn't. He's not the guy we all want him to be. He is only filling the role the Browns had set up for him last year if Hardesty dosen't get hurt and I think it's apparent the Browns have now left Hillis off their plans for the future. They do not want a guy who will bale when he dosen't get what he wants and then rub their faces in it.
