Robison apologizes to Lang for kick to groin

Since I’ve assumed all of you have finished your lunch today -- apologies to those in the Pacific Time Zone -- let’s go back to the videotape (thanks to the magic of Sorting the Sunday Pile) to see what transpired Sunday between Vikings defensive end Brian Robison and Packers offensive lineman T.J. Lang.

In effect, let’s watch Robison kick Lang in the nuts again.

OK, now that we’ve done that, here’s the aftermath of that kick to the groin, which weirdly did not draw a penalty (though likely will draw a fine).

Lang awesomely tweeted Sunday night, “Glad to report my genitalia are in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery!” And on Monday, Robison apologized on Twitter: “My apologies to @tjlang70 , my team, my fans and the @nfl . I am not a dirty player and did not maliciously aim for the groin, just happened to be where it landed.”

Responded Lang: “All joking aside, I think @Brian_Robison is a heck of a player.. Just caught up in the emotion of the game.. apology accepted.”

Wonderful. But now I have a question: which is worse: Robison’s foot to the groin or LeSean McCoy’s punch to the stomach?

Robison apologizes to Lang for kick to groin

Nothing like a little Whine and Cheeseheads...

If Lang is OK with it, then Cheeseheads should subjugate their bile and accept Robison's apology.  Besides, you are violating a cardinal rule of fandom: only losers get to whine.  Winners get to brag.  Instead of whining about something the players are joking about, why not talk about how your team managed to keep from blowing a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Just sayin...
Right, actually, I am NOT a Packer fan, just a football fan.

This was as classless a thing I have seen since Fat Albert stomped on Andre Gerude's head.

In a sport where there is constant contact with guys your size and bigger, it is NOT a smart move to pull girly BS like this. Other guys will talk non-stop getting in this asshat's head, then going after his little Brian.

And no Football genious, I didn't see that game, I was busy watching the Raiders get spanked BIG TIME lol

Nice apology:

1. I apologize.

2. I didn't really do it.

3. You deserved it anyway.

I would be more impressed with the "apology" if Robison hadn't tried to claim that he did not aim for the groin.  That's a bunch of crap --(1) its pretty obvious he was aiming for the groin and (2) really doesn't matter where he was aiming, he acted like a little girl is kicking at all.  The classic non-apology apology.  Admit what you did, no excuses, and take your fine/suspension like a man.  As to Lang, however, major props for a classy acceptance of the "apology".

Dumb move by Robison, although it's nice to see apologized immediately.  Even better move by Lang to have taken everything in stride and accept the apology without making into a massive ordeal.  They got the win, no need to make the incident take away from what the team is accomplishing.

Agree with that.  With all of the stupid little stories the infest NFL coverage these days, it is nice to see that when one man makes a mistake he can recognize that and the man he wronged can move on.

No bad feelings toward Robison, I don't think he's a dirty guy and good job for not being chippy between the two guys A. over Twitter, and B. over the rest of the game. So good stuff there...Too bad for the Pack's sake that it didn't really amount to anything as it was after a FG.

That said, legit question: Are you supposed to get ejected for that? I feel like that is worse than a punch, no matter where he "intended" to land the kick.

Definitely was a penalty... the ref immediately reached for his flag after it happened and gave the Vikings a 15 yard personal foul.  The problem was that this happened at the tail end of a field goal so the Packers kicked off from the 50 instead of the 35, so there was no real punishment for it.
