Fantasy players might love Vick but the general public does not. (Getty Images)

It's all about perspective. Looking through the prism of fantasy football, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is probably one of the NFL's most popular players. In real life, where there are no points for total passing yards, Vick is the league's least liked player, at least according to the latest public surveys from Neilson and E-Poll Market Research, which tracks the public's perception of athletes and celebrities.

Details via Forbes.com:
Vick has clearly made some public reparations over the past two years with his strong play on the field and gentlemanly behavior off of it. But these things have a way of taking time....

Why the continued hostility toward Vick? Nielsen Sports VP Stephen Master chalks it up to the scientific sample that mirrors the entire U.S. population, not just hardcore football fans. Casual fans that know Vick’s name primarily through his dog fighting legal circus naturally tend to focus on the negative. Women, for example, view Vick negatively at a 70% clip, compared to 50% for men.
Turns out, the public has little patience for law-breakers (or perceived law-breakers), in general. Plaxico Burress and Ben Roethlisberger were among the top vote-getters. Also unpopular: whiners and quitters; Vince Young, Carson Palmer and Jay Cutler were disliked for reasons having solely to do with football.

Young because of his rocky relationship with then-Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, Palmer for retiring until the Bengals traded him to the Raiders, and Cutler for the injury he suffered during last season's NFC Championship game. (Apparently, Cutler didn't appear injured enough for some folks.) “There was a feeling Cutler quit on his team,” Master says, “He took a lot of abuse.”

Yes, yes he did.

Other names to make the list: Albert Haynesworth, Chad Ochocinco, Tony Romo, and Jeremy Shockey.

Sorta surprising that nobody from the Ravens made the list, though the irony of Palmer being the Raiders' most disliked player more than makes up for it.

Say it Adgmod3! All these people decrying Vick like he's Ted Bundy. Please, give it a rest. The evil monsters out there like JSandusky, people who abuse kids or Ted Bundy, who killed dozens of PEOPLE! Not animals. These are monsters who never should see the light of day. Vick killed a few dogs, ok, that's bad, we get it!! But these people who say he shouldn't get a 2nd chance, blah, blah, blah. What B.S.....when we get rid of mass murder for political purposes, child abuse, War and bullying in schools, then I'll get to worrying about Michael Vick.

Polls are BS. If your really going to gauge an athletes popularity, look at their Jersey sales. Vick has been in the Top 10 since his return to football just as he was prior to his time away. Fans are not spending 100 bucks for a Jersey that they'll be embarrassed to wear. To play the race card as an answer to why the polls show Vick being rated so low is idiotic. I would question where this survey was taking. Obviously if the polls were taken in areas where other teams fans reside it would result in lower numbers. As far as his incarceration being the reason for low polls, Young and Dumb is his chief offense and I believe most people are willing to forgive mistakes. As an athlete he should be judged on performance first and then as a role model.

To Ryan Wilson:

Why are you "sorta" surprised that no one from the RAVENS made the list of the NFL's Most Disliked Players. That's like me saying I'm sorta surprised you don't sleep with sheep!!! Douche bag you must be a Steelers fan!

Serphnx, you're an absolute idiot.  After reading your post, I actually feel sorry for you.  You're probably a 15 year old virgin who plays World of Warcraft and lives life through your computer.  You really needed to attack someone with all your obscenities because of his opinion?  Grow up...and get a life.

I personally don't like Vick at all, and never will.  While I don't wish for an excruciating career ending injury, I do wish for his team to lose on a weekly basis...as long as my fantasy players still do well.  Not everyone deserves a 2nd chance, I just hope he makes up for the wrong he's done.  It doesn't matter what happens in your life...bad or good...it doesn't give you a pass to make horrible decisions.  That's the time when you man up, and do what's right.  That's what separates the men from the boys.

Serphnx, you're crazy...  I like your post!  The big story here is the wording and all of the typos and poor punctuation in the box you included in there.  Adding dramatic effect with a strict detailing of a dog's disembowelment by someone-yeah...he doesn't even know.  The original author is obviously fairly ignorant in general.  Although it boggles my mind how one can show any type of respect for psychopaths.  Unless of course, they get off on sneaking out at night and snuffing the life out of potted plants hanging from people's private balconies.  Because that would be hilarious, good TV, solid entertainment.  You could make a sitcom out of that!  Make it a short on Adult Swim at the very least!  In all seriousness, why are we still talking about this? He killed a few dogs.  Wake up, white people!!!  He didn't kill his parents.  He didn't kill his neighbor's daughter.  He didn't even get overzealous in a deadly barfight!  Why are we talking about this? Because the Eagles just lost? Because CBS wants to see Vick go away forever? Because our wonderful American media want to see him go away? What is it? You people never had shit happen to you in your life.  A man killing a few dogs because they failed him; that's the worst thing you ever heard of, right? PUUUUHHH-LLEEEASSSSEEEE!
