Fantasy players might love Vick but the general public does not. (Getty Images)

It's all about perspective. Looking through the prism of fantasy football, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is probably one of the NFL's most popular players. In real life, where there are no points for total passing yards, Vick is the league's least liked player, at least according to the latest public surveys from Neilson and E-Poll Market Research, which tracks the public's perception of athletes and celebrities.

Details via
Vick has clearly made some public reparations over the past two years with his strong play on the field and gentlemanly behavior off of it. But these things have a way of taking time....

Why the continued hostility toward Vick? Nielsen Sports VP Stephen Master chalks it up to the scientific sample that mirrors the entire U.S. population, not just hardcore football fans. Casual fans that know Vick’s name primarily through his dog fighting legal circus naturally tend to focus on the negative. Women, for example, view Vick negatively at a 70% clip, compared to 50% for men.
Turns out, the public has little patience for law-breakers (or perceived law-breakers), in general. Plaxico Burress and Ben Roethlisberger were among the top vote-getters. Also unpopular: whiners and quitters; Vince Young, Carson Palmer and Jay Cutler were disliked for reasons having solely to do with football.

Young because of his rocky relationship with then-Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, Palmer for retiring until the Bengals traded him to the Raiders, and Cutler for the injury he suffered during last season's NFC Championship game. (Apparently, Cutler didn't appear injured enough for some folks.) “There was a feeling Cutler quit on his team,” Master says, “He took a lot of abuse.”

Yes, yes he did.

Other names to make the list: Albert Haynesworth, Chad Ochocinco, Tony Romo, and Jeremy Shockey.

Sorta surprising that nobody from the Ravens made the list, though the irony of Palmer being the Raiders' most disliked player more than makes up for it.

Survey says: Vick NFL's most disliked player

It's always funny to me to read these articles written by scumbag racist haters, who call Vick a "piece of garbage", or that he 'should die'. So many who beleive in a deity, and yet have so much anger and hatred in them. You are not following the teachings of your religion, or choose to ignore them in order to hate what you think is important. You should all take a long look in the mirror, and hope that when your time comes, you will be forgiven for your shortcomings, and the stupid things you have done in your pathetic life.

I doubt many here could, but you go and keep on doing what you think its right. And make sure that you tune in tonight for the Monday night game, and hope he breaks a leg or something that will give your sad, sorry existence some purpose. And as he's carted off, you can look to the sky, and say,..'Thanks'. And pat yourself on the back, and convince yourself your a good person.

Straight to hell you haters will go,....then you can have a conversation with Vick when you ge there, and maybe realize that through your short sighted, arrogant point of view, that he's not all that bad.

Survey says: Vick NFL's most disliked player

Well this survey is a no brainer. Obviously everyone hates him because of the dogfighting scandals a few years ago. But it is more than that. He's also a good quarterback, and everyone hates good quarterbacks except the Eagles fans. I am definitely not defending Michael, I am a Saints fan who remembers him beating us up for a few years on the Falcons. But I think that he is a great quarterback and is the number one fantasy scoring QB in the league. Any team would want him. Ben Roethlisberger should also be up their in the poll, judging how he raped a girl in Georgia. Jay Cutler is hated because he has no emotions. The top three QBs that everyone likes are probably Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and one of the Manning brothers.

I'm one of those that will not forget or forgive Vick for his dog fighting.  Having worked in an animal shelter for 9 years I am well experienced in seeing dogs that are the victims of people just like Vick but they are usually unemployed and uneducated.  That puts Vick in a league all by himself !!!  I wish all of you could experience seeing a dog cry to death with it's throat bleeding and it's intestines hanging out.  People like Vick are not even moved by such scenes.  Every game Vick plays a pray for a painful career ending injury, he needs to suffer like the dogs that suffered because of him.  NO FORGIVENESS FOREVER !!!

He can claim all he wants that he "didn't know any better because dog fighting is a culture thing where he is from...."

But he lied and lied about it, stole money from pension funds to pay his defense lawyers.  He also lied about having herpes and intentionally spread it around, using a fake name to keep his dirty secret.

So no matter how you slice it, he is a liar and a thief.  Pretty hard to respect a liar and a thief.

And you can say he's "paid his debt", but that just means he doesn't sit in jail any more.  Don;t complain that others don't like the guy.  We are all judged by our actions.  Based on him being a liar and a thief, I don't like him.  Seems like many people agree with my view on the guy and there is no reasone we should change our opinion of him.

I am one of those "PINK-wearing" ladies who loves watching sports.  Watching sports is no longer an all male domain.  However. I am also a sista who also loves animals and I definitely would put animals before people in a heart beat.  Not sure if y'all have heard the phrase, "He talk the talk; NOW he gotta walk the walk."  Vick is one of the highest paid players in the NFL.  If he was really, truly sorry about what he did, then he should put together a Non-Profit Foundation for all animals --not just dogs--and hire someone with the very highest of etchics to run it.  He should put at the very least half of his $100+ million dollars that he got from the NFL, to save ALL of God's creatures; great and small!   I think it is the least he can do.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone

Oh puhleez! Spare us the self-righteous faulty analogy. I don't see to many (although some may be lurking) who would "cast stones" at Michael Vick! Certainly I wouldn't. The bottom line, however, is that people were so revulsed by the horrid acts he took part in that it will take a long time for many to forget it, or put it behind them, and some never will. For my part, I detest what the man did in an indescribable way; however I concur with many that he did pay somewhat of a price for his hideous deeds. What I find more disturbing are those whose totally mixed up priorities are so screwed up that they saw/see nothing reprehensible in what the man did and, if not justify, attempt to trivialize some of the most brutal acts of animal cruelty imaginable. I'm sorry, but while I can acknowledge Vick's obvious talents on a football field, I am one of those who find it difficult in the extreme to just brush them off--perhaps because I have always had dogs as pets and the very thought of someone doing the kinds of things Vick did with those animals chills the spine. Yes, it's a past event, yes he paid the price asked (albeit not enough in my opinion), and yes he is now making millions right back on a football field. My only hope is that his contrition is sincere (and I am not judging here--only expressing a hope), and that his future acts can in some small measure recompense the attrocities he once took part in.

All that said, all this "cast the first stone" mumbo-jumbo is just that. People have a right to their opinions be they "forgive and forget", "what's the big deal?" or "he's a barbarian and I'll never forgive him"... but none of this is in the vein of asking someone to stone anyone as was the case when the above cited quote was first made. For the benefit of those self-righteous justifiers, we are also directed to "judge for ourselves" the acts of others--- we are told "by their fruits the tree is known" and I could go on ad nauseum in the "quote" game. But use of sophistical quotations is little more than propaganda with litte substance behind it. Let the yea's be yea, and the nays be nay-- we all know the expression about opinions. Michael Vick is a superb athlete--but apparently in the minds of some 70% of the people out ther--not a very likeable one. So be it--move on.

Lets see, he has an alias Ron Mexico

He gave at least one person herpes

He had a waterbottle that had weed in a secret compartment

Ran, and financed an ILLEGAL gambling ring, which is the real reason he served time in prison.

Lied, and Lied, and Lied some more to his employer, about his shady activaties

And people actually think he should "get a break"? The NFL gave him the break of a lifetime. Just think about how your employer would treat you if you lied like that turd did. Probably wouldn`t get your job back

What a piece of garbage this idiot is...

Just because the DOG KILLER paid his debt to society doesn't mean he deserves to play in the NFL again. Playing in the NFL is a privelege not a right. He's only sorry and repentful because he got caught otherwise he'd still be killing dogs! Not surprisingly the loser Philly fans love him as long as he wins games for those idiots! I'll guarantee though that if he had signed with Dallas or the Giants or the Redskins they would be screaming bloody murder! He should've been banned for life from the NFL but of course the greedy NFL wants to make as much money that they can off of him so they just look the other way. The scumbag piece of S--- should be pumping gas back in VA and see how everyday people have to live not like a pampered spoiled primma donna that he is!

I agree with this.  I personally do not like Michael Vick, mostly for his actions off the field.  He's a great athlete, I cannot dispute that.  I just don't see how a person with millions of dollars can't find a legal hobby to spend his money on.  Wrong is wrong, and I don't care what my personal situation is, I'd never fight dogs.  However, a guy fighting a dog to put food on the table for his family is totally different than a million dollar athlete doing it for "fun".  I'm by no means saying Mike Tyson is a role model, but his weird hobby is playing with pigeons, and as weird as that is, at least it's legal.  Vick is not a good person, but I'd love to have his talent on my team in football.
