Darren McFadden out for Raiders Thursday night

Darren McFadden hasn't played for the Raiders in several weeks. And it was originally thought he missed last Sunday's loss to Denver in order to ensure his availability for Thursday night's game in San Diego.

However, McFadden has been ruled out for the game, according to Paul Guiterez of CSN Bay Area who says the team's "confirmed the star running back will not be active for Thursday night's game."

This seems like the logical conclusion because, as our Raiders Rapid Reporter Eric Gilmore notes, McFadden won't get a single practice snap before the Chargers game if he was to play.

Losing McFadden against a division rival would, quite obviously, be a tremendous blow for Oakland. But running the ball wasn't the problem for Oakland last Sunday (Michael Bush rolled for 96 yards on 19 carries).

Oakland's issue was stopping the run. And it might be easier for the Raiders since they won't have to deal with the unexpected aspect of stopping the read option featuring Tim Tebow, but if the defense plays as well as it did against Denver, Oakland won't stand a chance against San Diego.

hes only missed 2 games this season relax people he will be back and tearing it up better than ever
Sorry dude, hate to break it to you but this is what you are going to get with McFadden... He is crazy dope when he is playing but you will be lucky to get 10 games a year out of him.... He is just one of those guys who has the injury bug, like Matthews is shaping up to be... Its never anything major, just a game here, two there then he plays a few and then its something else...

And realistically this is his third miss, he didn't much of that KC game did he?

Thursday night games suck!
They suck for fantasy and they suck for real.
They didn't give anyone a deduct who pays for the Sunday ticket when they robbed us of a game.
The only time Thursday games should happen are on THANKSGIVING.
Of course that would be considered TRADITION & this Commish cares nothing about that.

One London game a year now, soon to be two, and future plans of a team...........PLEASE.
Pretty soon there will be nothing remotely traditional about the NFL alot of us grew up with.

Don't like my opinion, that's fine....more than likely you like Goodell than and are just fine with the direction the NFL is heading.......
Too many flags for the offense, not allowed to play defense, too hard of hits, you know stuff like that.....the stuff that Goodell keeps changing.

The Raiders can win this game by running the ball 30-40 times with the combination of Bush and Taiwan Jones. Ball control offense keeping Rivers on the bench. The defense must tackle better and put pressure on Rivers in order to stay in the game. This is a classic AFC West battle and maybe the football gods have another Holy Roller in store for us. Just win Now baby!

The answer to all of Gilmore's Keys to a Raiders Win is simple: run the ball.  Thats the Raider way.  The game starts at the line of scrimmage where the team that can grind it out and fight for the longest is going to control the time of possession and the gameflow. Physical football is what Davis preached and was the reason that he brought in the fastest and strongest Players he could assemble. So there is really nothing that unusual about the personnel moves trying to make our team better, but Coach Jackson cant get away from what the Raiders do best and is the best way to "Build a Bully".  Its too bad that McFadden is out again, but we have a very capable, underutilized, and former heisman candidate to back him up and we all know that Bush is more than capable to ground and pound.  As Coach says, Next man up.  The problem is that Coach Jackson is way to confident in the rusty Palmer, but what can you expect, he's been dreaming about working with his protege again and all of his Cincinnati compadres.  This team has a very new identity due to completey unforseen circumstances, but the Raiders have to go on playing to win without Al and Campbell, and there is a lot more at stake this season because of that.  Just because these things have happened, doesn't mean you lose sight of the goal.  We need to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Oakland Raider where it belongs, not just for Al, but for the Raider Nation.  Those fans out there that watched all the painful years of ineptitude wondering if it would ever get better, all the while knowing that if only worthless players like Sapp, Walker, Moss, Porter etc would care about more than a paycheck and would play the game hard we might win.  But the toughness and the attitude wasn't there, the right coach wasn't there on the field and Davis could be involved less and less.  Tom Cable instilled a lot of toughness in this team and changed the attitude in the locker room into thinking that they could be winners if they worked and played hard; Same could be said for Richard Seymour.  Cable couldn't call plays at all and really wasn't that great of a HC, but he had attitude and knew that the game was won in the trenches.  Now I absolutely think that Hue Jackson is the right man for the job and has been instrumental in this turnaround.  But Coach Jackson can't get away from what has made this team contenders: the running game.  I heard someone talk about the Patriot's Model - Belichek style Head Coach and Franchise QB, and all its copycats - KC, NYJ, SD. etc.  That is one way to go about professional football, and has been the most successful in recent history.  There is also the Raider's Model - find the biggest and baddest players you can assemble on either side of the ball and beat the snot out of the person across from you.  Oh, and ya, throw the long ball about 15 times a game.  This style has obviously worked very well for the Ravens and the Steelers for the last decade and the right players are in place to make it work for the Raiders.  The offensive and defensive fronts for this team are loaded with talent and can be dominant.  I got to watch Jared Veldheer fold people in half for three years at Hillsdale and got pretty d@mn excited when Al told him, "I like the way you play".

Going to have to pick the Chargers, simply because they suck less than the Raiders. Commitment to.....what was that again?
