Vick has couple broken ribs, could miss time

It was a rough Sunday for the Eagles, as they lost at home to Arizona 21-17. The defense was bad, DeSean Jackson was missing for disciplinary reasons, and Michael Vick looked horrible.

But Vick's apparently got a good excuse for his poor play -- Andy Reid told reporters on Monday, via our Eagles Rapid Reporter Kevin Noonan, that Vick suffered a couple broken ribs against the Cardinals and that he could miss time going forward.

"We'll see," Reid said when asked if Vick would play Sunday.

According to Reid, Vick suffered the injury on the second play of the game against Arizona. If that's the case, it's not hard to see how -- Daryl Washington came off the edge, basically unblocked, and laid into Vick's side after the quarterback threw a completion to tight end Brent Celek.

The hit obviously affected Vick over the course of the game, even if he didn't disclose it following the loss yesterday.

Week 10 Wrapup

"I wasn’t accurate today," Vick said Sunday, per Noonan. "I never really got comfortable and that can’t happen. I have to find a way to get it done."

It's kind of hard to imagine that the Eagles would play Vick on Sunday; though there's an argument to made that their season hangs in the balance right now, there's also an argument to be made that the Eagles season is over.

The Giants sport a ferocious pass rush (they're first in the NFL with 30 sacks this season) and trotting Vick out against the Giants could expose him to further injury, even if he wears a flak jacket or some other protective device. In other words, the upside for putting Vick under center just isn't there, even if the downside involves Vince Young running the offense.

In other Eagles news, Andy Reid believes he's still the coach to lead Philadelphia.

"I am," Reid said when asked that question Monday.

Reid also said Juan Castillo would continue to call the defensive plays for the Eagles and that no change was coming on that end of things.

And DeSean Jackson is still a starting wide receiver, per Reid, who said the team addressed his status and laid it all on the table. That's a good thing, because several players, including Vick, lamented the loss of Jackson to the team's offense yesterday.

"Any time you don't have one of your premier players, one of your go-to guys, it does [hurt]," Vick said. "But we have to respect the decisions that were made. We wish it never had to come to that, but it is what it is and you still have to go out and win the football game."

To sum up: it's a complete and utter mess right now in Philadelphia and despite the Eagles not being mathematically eliminated yet, things don't appear poised to make a turn for the better.

Vick has couple broken ribs, could miss time

Guys, dogs fight all the time, dogfighting merely utilizes it and makes it into profit.

Jesus Christ!  Just when you think you've heard it all.  "Dogs fight all the time, dogfighting merely utilizes it and makes it into profit".  That is special right there.  Listen  Everyone except for scumbags agrees dogfighting is wrong.  Most would even agree that it is a cultural thing.  That being said, is the torture of underperforming dogs part of the culture?  Is hanging a live dog from a tree because it lost a fight the same as two dogs fighting one another when they get out of their own yard?  How in the hell could a person with a reasonable perception come up with something like that.  If Michael, aka the chosen one, aka the redemption story, aka MV7 would have just been hanging out at a dog fight the public WOULD NOT be in this type of outrage still.  The guy TORTURED animals that would not fight.  Really, think about that for one second.  A dog backs down from another dog and what does it get?  A water hose and a set of jumper cables to each of its ears.  Did they really name their ring Bad Newz Kennelz?  What a bunch of STUPID fu.king low lifes.

With that being said, I don't wish any harm on the guy.  I actually want that soft as.s out on the field so he keeps proving how mediocre he is.  He's a decent running back with a decent arm.  And stop using words like beast and haterade.  Unless you're under the age of 20 you verify your idiocy when you actually spew that s.hi.t.

Can someone please explain to me since when did dogs becomes holy creatures? I have a dog, I love him, and I wouldn't do anything to harm him...but he's a dog. Yes, he's a living creature, he has a spirit, but he's a dog. Guys, dogs fight all the time, dogfighting merely utilizes it and makes it into profit. Furthermore, the only reason why everyone flips out is because in our coutry dogs are held in high regard. Go to another country where pigs/hogs are sacred. Dogfighting would simply be brushed off, pig fighting would be considered evil. All of your opinions were fed to you based on your surroundings and environment. That being said, Vick is a great QB. There's a reason why he was the most paid player before he got arrested. There's a reason why he's the most hit QB and can't get half the calls other QBs get. You cannot contaminate someone's athletic skills with there personal life, because the two are separate entities. I in no way condone his actions, however, he did his time. You guys think Vick is a criminal? What about the Federal Reserve and the elite that have raped our country for years. They are the real criminals. Athletes are just entertainment.

I'm an eagle fan by the way, and I know there are a plethora of problems with the team, not just Vick not getting calls, but moving coordinators around. Vick is a beast, stop the haterade.

Vick has couple broken ribs, could miss time

C'mon, guys, enough of the silly macho posturing and Romo comparisons.  First of all, Vick hasn't missed any time from this injury yet, so why not wait to rip him for it until he does?  For that conspiracy theorist among you who suggested that he may not have gotten hurt in the first period at all, I was watching the game and saw him get hit and some replays, and he got hit there pretty good.  I was surprised he was able to continue to play, but he did--though he probably shouldn't have.

And I have no idea whether he should play next week.  For the silly Romo comparers, you should already know that every injury is different, and unless you've read the medical records you don't know whether it's the same ribs, the location, the severity, etc., etc.  (or whether Romo was a damn fool for playing, a question on which I take no position).  So forget the simplistic comparisons.  They mean nothing.

For all the Vick bashers; you obviously don't know anything about the south. Its different, I don't condone it by any means, but in the south, dog fighting has been and is still a way of life for many people.  Say what you will, but Vick was persecuted simply because he is high profile, wealthy, and a media target for groups like PETA etc.  The authorities and humane societies could and do make arrests on a weekly basis related to dog fighting or things of that nature, why they chose to go after and destroy Vick...because they knew it would be their media moment, 15 minutes of fame, that's all.
Just because a small minority of people accept it does not make it right.  He is scum.  You are scum if you think how he behaved, his actions, is forgivable.  It sounds like you don't even think he did anything that needs to be forgiven.

I am happy that my Eagles suck with him.  I hate the dog killer and hope he gets broken by the Giants this weekend.  The sooner the Eagles realize that he is not a QB (and he is not, he is just a good athlete, but a good QB has to be more than just an athlete), the sooner they dump him.  And in the NFL, where contracts are not guaranteed, that can happen.  If Reid comes back, he gives him a 1 more year.  If a new regime comes in, I can hope that they dump him, but they probably use him for 1 more year while they implement their system and look for the right, be it in the draft or free agency.  But either way, 2013 looks like a good year (as long as Reid is gone too).

Vick's tough, so I expect him to play.  I also expect him to be on the sideline by the time the game ends.   Laughing

Go Giants!
