Rex to start vs Dallas, Hankerson done for year

It's only Monday, but we've already got our weekly Redskins quarterback semi-drama out of the way: Rex Grossman will start for Washington when they play the Cowboys in Week 11.

That's according to Mike Shanahan, who didn't hesitate to announce the news at his Monday press conference.

"I was impressed with the way [Rex] played," Shanahan said.

Impressed here is relative, of course, because Grossman wasn't good in the Redskins 20-9 loss to Miami, going 21 of 32 for 215 yards and two picks.

Week 10 Wrapup

But Grossman was more effective than John Beck, who he replaced this past week. Grossman didn't get the win, obviously, and he wasn't necessarily good, but he at least moved the offense and provided some hope that the 'Skins could pull off the upset in Miami.

As did rookie wideout Leonard Hankerson, who flashed some serious potential with an eight-catch, 106-yard effort against the Dolphins.

Unfortunately for the Redskins, Hankerson's season ended Monday with the announcement that he was placed in injured reserve with a torn labrum. Shanahan said the timeline for rehab would be about four months.

Shanahan also said that Santana Moss wouldn't be available against Dallas (though he could be back for the Seattle game), which means the Redskins top-two receiving options against their hated rival will be Jabar Gaffney and the newly-signed David Anderson.

Clearly, things have gone south for Washington since their 3-1 start, and there's no real reason for hope in the near future.

These Cowboys fans are a joke. Wouldn't be surprised if Homo,,,,,,, sorry Romo, doesn't have one of his games this weekend. I'm not talking about the kind he had this last weekend. Yes, as a Redskins fan a lot of us are scratching our heads about now. Injuries are what did us in this year. That's not to say we were anything beyond 8-8 this year. Still atleast another draft away. QB, offensive line, WR still a need but we need to let Paul show us what he can do. Let all the young guys play. Defense is doing good but need to continue getting better and younger there as well. I think this will be a good game this weekend. If we could get this one I couldn't care if we won anymore. Hail To The Redskins!!!

Thank God the game is on Fox and we can watch the entire game. What CBS did to us fans last Sunday should be a sin.

Not really liking Shanahan's decision making, I think it is really dumb of Mike Shanahan to sit Roy Helu for Ryan Torain last game, after a very productive game against the Niners two weeks ago. As for Hankerson it sure take him awhile to warm up on him but now it is just sheer bad luck that he is injured. But sure thought he should have been playing alongside Santonio even in the first week even if he has a history of fumbling the ball he benched him for a long time after he fumble a ball earlier in preseason i think. Hope Hankerson gets healthy for next year probably or hopefully with someone competent to call the shots.

And after that 3-1 start all their fans were running their mouths.
While I'm sure there were Skins fans saying how good the team was going to be, most levelheaded fans were just waiting for the inevitable, myself included. And on that note, I've seen many more Giants fans run their mouths even though they haven't accomplished anything this year. If you're going to rag on Redskins fans like that, don't leave Giants fans out of the same discussion.
Maybe that POS Cooley will run his mouth some more this week in preparation for the a$$ kicking the Cowboys are going to deliver on Sunday.
You're clearly the only tool who's still taking that seriously. If you had a sense of humor, you would have realized that what Cooley said was all in good banter and fun. Everyone else has moved on from that.
all this from a fan of a team that always starts strong, and fades late. The Giants are fool's gold - as always.
Precisely. Giants started the real part of their schedule this past Sunday [which culminated in a loss]. We'll see how the mighty Giants stack up against teams like New Orleans and Green Bay.
